Expensive is one thing. The dentists I went to are so moneyminded! They seem more keen on upselling than giving proper advice.

Thank u so much for this episode! This issue shd be raised sooner! Dental treatments in Singapore are so crazy sky high expensive. Did 2 root canal treatments and crowning and cost me close to $7k. One session of polishing + 2 filings cost me $300+ .. To be honest , the high costs are a huge deterrence. If this is part of healthcare , why are the costs just keep going up unhinged every year? If the costs can't be managed , then pls at least consider making changes to use our medisave for deductions for non surgical treatments like root canal.

Even dental costs at polyclinics are quite expensive. If they have to refer you for specialist treatment at SOCs, you will be shocked even after subsidy how expensive it is.

I did some 2 fillers, polishing and an x-ray for better diagnosis and it cost me about $500 out of pocket. My dentist was smiling ear to ear.

I went to JB to get a dental procedure. It was so much better compared to SG. Next day appointments, fees half the cost of SG. Only trouble is that you have to cross the border to get it done.

It's indeed steep to visit dentists in Singapore, every 6 months I would take a holiday in the past 2 decades. Then I will visit dentists in the destination dentists. It costs $12 to $20 for scale/polishing/extraction in vietnam, $60 max in Hong Kong/malaysia, $40 in taiwan, also less than $100 in Japan and Korea and these asia countries provides great services.

After doing polishing and scaling by a polyclinic dentist (intern?), some of my teeth became very sensitive. After almost 2 months now, the sensitivity didn't go away and one of my dental crown dropped off today.

Polyclinic fees may be cheaper but their dentists seem to treat patients as guinea pigs. Need to think twice going to polyclinic again.

In private clinics, polishing and cleaning already cost around $100, if you need to have fillings easily cost at least around $80 per tooth. I'm not even going to talk about more serious treatment like root canals and implants which this video has already covered. Because dental treatments are not subsidized apart from wisdom tooth surgery, whatever dental care that we need has to come out of our own pocket. Majority of the time, we do not have that much disposable income because we got other bills to pay. Public dental appointments also depends on the time slot, obviously it is less accommodating compared to private clinics. Dental insurance from companies are also not very common unless you're in a MNC.

When I am sick I go and see the GP, the price even if private rarely exceeds $100. Dentist, anyhow go see, suddenly $300 to $500 gone, even if there is no pain or issues which you can feel.
