You push boundaries in a cheeky way, but always with respect. That’s what allows you to be edgy without ever slipping into anything bigoted or mean‑spirited. It takes real skill to walk that line, and you do it brilliantly.
I’ve seen Jimmy Carr and others use this approach too — it’s such a smart marketing idea. Fans get a unique moment, we get to enjoy it online, and you get natural exposure to your many talents. Total win‑win.
It’s fun how comics like you are in such demand. You speak to the dilemmas and absurdities of human culture and give us a chance to laugh together as a little temporary community — with humour, honesty, and a pinch of philosophy.
Glorious stuff 😊
PS: I’m curious — I run an advertising and marketing agency, but I still take on wedding, party, and event photography. The main reason I keep doing it is because it keeps me sharp. One has one’s skills… but there’s nothing quite like doing one’s own little “show”. My photographic style is very interactive and communicative, working with hundreds of strangers and trying to add a moment of joy while capturing a brief, personal snapshot of each person at their best.
I’m absolutely drained afterwards — but it’s incredibly rewarding, as I hone various skills and I suspect my ADHD brain is simply addicted to the dopamine rush it generates 😂
The second reason I do this is because it’s my favorite form of personal and organic marketing. I get to perform as a photographer, friendly chats with hundreds and prove my qualities with work of the evening. A good 1/3 of my local clients approached me/our agency due to this bonus soft selling technique 🙂
So I imagine you might relate to some of that 😊
