30g / 1oz Butter

You have to put the crosses in, its traditional. I remember peeling and crossing the sprouts was one of the first jobs i got when helping my mum at Christmas or Sunday lunch ❤

When I was young sprouts used to have a bitter taste, I think that growers have cultivated the sweeter varieties over the years but they have also become rather tasteless. This recipe was a godsend, making the sprouts extremely tasty with the bacon fat and also giving them a glaze. I have produced it twice over the Christmas period and the sprouts have been very popular. Thank you John

Hi John, I just discovered your videos and am enjoying them very much! I wanted to share my own way of making brussel sprouts if you ever want to try something different. It's a huge hit with my friends and family. I cook them until they are done, but not mushy or soft. Just a bit of a bite. Then in another pan I bake a finely chopped onion until it's brown and caramalised. I add it to the cooked brussel sprouts and finish with small pieces of walnut anda sprinkle of sweet yellow curry powder over them. It's a nice combination of sweet and a bit bitter that works really well!

Thank you for making these videos. I'm recommending them to a lot of people! With love from the other side of the pond (a.k.a. The Netherlands).

I love Brussels Sprouts, but no one else in my family does! I had just bought a package of them, and will be using this recipe this weekend. It looks wonderful and easy!
