Very, very sad that some of you choose to complain about clickbait when there is an important charity initiative I literally mention in the first 90 seconds.
You can donate to the campaign for Gabriel here: https://gofund.me/66bbdf6b

You’re gonna be able to make so many “I’m retired and I wouldn’t make a move that bad” jokes, can’t wait

He’s not retiring, hes just taking a vacation to prepare for Chess 2 to come out.

I looked at all the donations. From the time levy put this video to now an hour later, the donations have increased tremendously in the last hour. The number of people donating is wonderful. Best of luck to her and her baby.

random thought: Levy retiring from competitive chess to sustain his mental health basically means he’s realised he’s worth more than a king

which is true!

On the knight forks thing.. one trick that has really helped me is if your pieces are on 2 different colors they can never be forked by a knight or bishop. Makes end game calculation a lot easier

Guess the elo should be a weekly series ! Vote this up !!!

The thing about boys and girls playing chess differently is so freaking true.
I had a strong girl in my age group playing tournaments and all the boys (including me) would play hyperagressive chess. Her secret weapon was that she was incredibly solid. She never really attacked, all she did was to let guys take their best shot, sacrifice pawns and pieces and she'd absorb all that pressure, and like a goddess of revenge take you down like the miserable fool you were down 2 pawns. She was brilliant. I hated playing against her, but I admired her for her understanding of the game.

A family member of mine is being treated for High Risk Neuroblastoma in NYC at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK). MSK may be able to help find a charity that could help Gabriel. I also reached out to a charity I'm familiar with to see if there's anything they can do.

Levy, let me know if you'd like more information about MSK contacts.

I love how frequently you are making interesting content now. It's really satisfying to see your videos on my home screen.

22:20 For my beginner brain, it helps to remember that knights (and pawns) can never fork pieces that are on different color squares.

I think the title is there for the family who needs help so I think it's good.

4 years later idk how that sick 1 year old is doing but I hope that he's doing well and by now I hope he has learned to walk and to talk idk if anyone has any information about him but I still hope from the bottom of my heart that he's doing well

If you retire from Guess the Elo, we will all retire from Chess.

My regards for the Georgian family, hope they get the support they need!

imagine submitting a game, thinking you have played a magnificent game, checkmating with a knife, and then Gotham guesses your elo 500 below the actual score.

Bro you can’t retire from everything!

When I was about Gabriels age I had neuroblastoma too. I hope that he can be as lucky as I was and I will be praying for him.

I think many of us spend 0 time in longer time controls because we’re just making the most immediately intuitive move. We (or at least I) struggle to differentiate opening, middlegame, and endgame, so we want to have plenty of time for “later.” Kinda like when you don’t use rare consumables in a video game.
