F*#K You I won’t do what you tell me!! Heyyy🔥🔥🔥. I’m putting this one in my top 5 Rock songs! What’s next family?

Who is here in 2026??? Welcome to the resistance!

2025 here, not enough people raging against the machine

RAtM came out in '92, just after the L.A. Riots.  They took that energy and turned it into a soundtrack.

Scary how this song is so relevant today

Zack De la Rocha is heavily slept on as a lyricist/rapper. 95% of rappers nowadays couldn't hold a candle to him

This was pure art.  You get it.  They used their popularity to say something real! They woke me up when I was young, privileged, and ignorant. They also used to speak out against the injustices done to indigenous people and those forced into slave labor.

Rage against the machine is a history teacher in this house.

I am GenX and we had an idea of how the world should become, and RATM spoke the truth of the injustices we saw at the time. But it felt very much like screaming into a void for decades. I think it’s because we are a small generation populationwise and our boomer elders (parents) have held onto the reigns of power longer than most.

It wasn't (just) anti police violence, it was anti-corrupt government through and through. The line "Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses" sounds a little awkward because it wasn't the original; the record company got them to change it from "Some of those that hold office". The "chosen whites" are "killing in the name of" (the government). They did the original lyrics live sometimes.

They wrote and released this song not long after the Rodney King beating. It was the first time that the entire world saw just how vicious and cruel the cops could be, and the lengths the power behind them would go to protect them. It was a scary time and other riots broke out around the world at the same time. Black people were finally starting to be believed, and tensions were really high as they (and their supporters) took to the streets. This song captures the anger perfectly.

Tom Morello's guitar is a force of nature

All these years later and this song still gives me goosebumps. A true anthem against judicial violence.

The guitarist, Tom Morello, is in Minneapolis❤

Two words, one name: Rodney King.
'Nuff said.

Killing in the Name of was inspired by the Rodney King beating in 1992. When he’s talking about force,he’s talkin about police forces in the aftermath and how the situation was handled

I first heard this song around 10 years ago; a radio station in Spokane, WA played it on a loop for 24 hours after the entire staff was fired after the station was sold. Blew my mind.

"They're The chosen whites " are  the most important bars, in the song.

Excellent reaction.  I was in high school when RATM hit the scene and went to several of their concerts.  They were one of the greatest bands at directing a whole generation of angry kids to channel our anger in the right direction.  Our parents weren’t the problem…it was the whole fucking system.

Greatest Christmas song ever

We need this played everywhere right now
