Using the P38 Wrong - a few people mentioned that the thumb should be pressing on the uppermost part of the flat metal section; you may be right, but I just tried it and my thumb won't do that (at least, not with any kind of comfort) due to a joint mobility issue discussed here: https://youtu.be/EW86gVGVrRw

Wow. Some of us grew up in a single can opener house and we were grateful for it. That opener worked so hard to feed us kids and we never knew any different. Now I come here and see you casually showing off handfuls of openers? The life of the rich Youtuber. Must be nice for you.

When I saw that Stabby can opener, it brought back horrors from when my old Mum used to try and use hers when she had arthritic fingers. When I used to visit her, I would find the top bent up where I think she used to use a heavy object to bang the can opener into the can. She just didn't have the strength to press it down to pierce the top. I forbad her to use it and and as she couldn't use any of the other types easily, I bought her an electric can opener which did the job without the risk of any blood being spilt! I'm glad you survived this Can Opener trial with the spilling of blood too! Well done you!! 😀👍🙏

I have to admire your self-control in this video, I’m not sure how you resisted the urge to open the can of tomatoes that was surrounded by tin openers. I don’t think I could resist, especially with multiple tin openers I’ve never used before. 😅

The flat I bought had previously been rented out furnished. One of the many things left behind by the previous occupants was a Brabantia can opener. After giving it a good clean I found it to be an excellent can opener and it still is over 30 years later.

Believe me when I say that ONLY you, Shrimp, could make a 42 minute video on can openers which I watched right to the end!

When i was naught but a student, I remember buying a can of chicken in white wine sauce, but realised that neither me, nor my flatmates owned a can opener, and the ring-pull tab snapped off.
So i used a stanley knife much in the same way as the army-style can opener.
It worked, surprisingly well.  Bought a can opener the next day.

I actually swapped to a "safety" can opener recently. I started making a version of the curry Mr. Shrimp posted about a few weeks ago and the canned tomatoes I buy come in a very soft can. My usual opener always seemed to just bend the can and not cleanly cut through the lid. But thanks to a Technology Connections video, I bought a basic side opener and that worked way better for my purpose!

The actual p-38 is a basic rectangle shape with a rib & does not have the bottle opener cut-out places, so they would likely be easier to grip and not so uncomfortable for your fingers

This is a crazy coincidence. 2 days ago I tried to open a large can of stuffed wine leafs and my can opener just... crumbled into rust. A complete gone-er. And I thought, well, I have to find the video where shrimp says what kind of can opener he uses. Thank you :D
