Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers is one of Kendrick Lamar's greatest works. It's an album the bares all its flaws, greatness, and truth in a confrontational and confessional display that inspires the truth to come out in all of us in hopes that it can inspire a better future. This is my experience with it as a Queer PoC who had to reckon with my own generational trauma.

What's your favourite thing about Dream Theater and Prog music?

If it's your first time, what's your impression to their story and music so far?

back in the day, I have a memory of a fan falling off a balcony trying to catch a drumstick from Portnoy.I believe the fan was okay, but I remember Portnoy saying he'll never throw a stick into the crowd after that.

Great video! Dream Theater is my favorite band and this is probably the best video going over the reunion I’ve seen. Also, Six Degrees is my favorite album of theirs too!

I didn't know about Portnoy's mom. That story gave me cold sweats. Thanks for this video. I saw DT live in Rome in October 2024. It was frigging awesome and I can't wait to see them live again. Greetings from Italy.

I am an older female fan of DT. I have always loved a wide variety of music and was a fan of Yes, Moody Blues, and other Prog bands dating back to the seventies. I first heard about DT on a Yes website in the late 90’s. I soon fell in love with their talent and great imagination in composing truly epic, awesome music. After Mike left DT, I kept following Mike in all his adventures of starting new bands and playing with Neal Morse, and truly enjoyed it, becoming a fan of all those bands. But I was thrilled when he returned back to DT! Love Parasomnia, looking forward to watching them in the future, grateful for however many years they can continue!!!❤

I'm more of a 90s DT fan, but really appreciate this video. Petrucci taught me guitar even though he doesn't know it lol, and it's such a breath of fresh air to have these musical nerds who can kick the assess of any "rockstar" type hotshot, and still seem humble. Still love this band even though I don't really listen to their new stuff now.

amazing video bro. i think my favorite thing about DT is how dreamy their soundscape sounds (soundscape sounds '-'), specially on tracks like Scarred and Lifting Shadows Off The Dream

FANTASTIC!!! From our home state of TX, I flew to NY and saw the 40th Anniversary Show at Radio City with my 22 year old son who had just graduated from SMU and just moved from TX to Brooklyn. One of the greatest nights of my life of 60 years. It was the Best Of Times. LOVED your video. Thank you

And you wonder why they chose "The Mirror" to be on their setlist

"Why'd I betray my friend?
Lying until the end
Living life so pretend
It's time to make my amends
I'LL NEVER HURT YOU AGAIN!"

14:17 New, Sub-Year old Dream Theater fan here. I recently listened through the entire Dream Theater discography from beginning to end (minus EPs), and there absolutely is a certain kind of magic that was lost when Portnoy left. The songs lost their ebb and flow, they felt more mechanical, and soulless. Like you said, there are some great moments, and various songs from all five albums with Mangini I have on my favourites playlist. But it's impossible to deny that Portnoy brought something to the table that was lost when he left. It's hard to pin down exactly what it is, though.

Thanks for taking me on this cool journey. I was at that Toronto show at the CC and have to say, God bless Forehead guy. I hope he got something extra cool out of that moment. James did say something about I'll buy you a drink later. Cheers.
