Neural Amp Modeler on the Zoom MS-70CDR! In this complete tutorial, I take you through the process of creating and installing custom NAM amp modules and an IR cabinet module, followed by guitar demos and practical tests.

Starting with Zoom Effect Manager, I show where to find themanro’s project, how to find NAM captures on TONE3000, and how to turn the selected files into ZDL effects for the pedal.

I create two different NAM modules: one using an amp capture with a separate IR module, and another using a combined amp-and-cab capture. You’ll hear both approaches, see the available settings, and hear my thoughts on using them.

I also test picking dynamics, the guitar volume control, and the DSP limitations when adding more effects. NAM uses a substantial amount of processing power in my tests, so the effects you can run alongside it depend on the particular combination.

If you’re following along, use the chapters below to pause, repeat a step, or jump straight to the sound tests.

CREDITS

A huge thank you to themanro for the work behind this project and for making these tools available to the community. Thanks also to Leemuzhko for the custom Zoom effects I’ve been exploring in my recent videos, and to the creators sharing their captures and IRs.

This video demonstrates my original Zoom MS-70CDR. These are community-developed tools and effects, rather than an official Zoom update. Check the current project instructions and compatibility information for your pedal and the files you use, and back up your setup before making changes.
