We started the shore maintenance of Su Gibi last week. This week things got a little more serious. 😄
We disassembled and greased the propeller, completely unloaded our 60-meter chain and marked the meters, removed and cleaned the windlass's anchor chain and performed maintenance.
We learned a new technique we didn't know before for dropping the anchor and chain in case of an emergency. We changed the underwater lights, accessed the most difficult-to-reach parts of the boat, and in 45-degree heat, we reached the final stage of the shore maintenance: antifouling paint.
While doing all this, we also learned a lot from Master Arif. Sometimes we picked up a tool for the first time, sometimes we couldn't manage it, sometimes we laughed, but at the end of the shore maintenance, we launched Su Gibi back into the sea.
This maintenance showed us something else: Owning a boat isn't just about steering. We are slowly learning to know our own boat, maintain it, and solve the problems we encounter.
Now it's time to go back to the sea…
After our last days at Netsel Marina, a new journey begins for Su Gibi.
Thank you so much for watching, guiding us with your comments, and supporting Su Gibi! ❤️
🌊 SU GİBİ
Can life begin anew at 58?
We asked ourselves this question.
Then we mustered the courage and set sail without any sailing experience.
Today, we live full-time on board our 7.65-meter motor yacht, Su Gibi, in Marmaris; we share what we've learned, the mistakes we've made, and the beautiful experiences we've had.
On this channel:
⚓ The real face of life on a boat
⚓ Real costs and technical processes
⚓ Bays, marinas, and routes
⚓ Our story of learning sailing from scratch
⚓ We have our successes as well as our mistakes.
🛥 We are Akyol, Sibel, and Bonnie.
