My husband and I are the couple in that photo with the car!! That was 7 years ago. The guy who lived there after the actress - his name was tim. My dad was his maintenance man, and he drove us around on ur wedding day. We moved to australia and are currently back for a holiday, a friend told us about this! So cool.
Doesn't look abandoned at all. Old yes. Not abandoned. Probably needs dedicated fans of the actor to be the keeper of the house. Together look after the house. In my country, there was a stage actor who died childless. Fans gathered and make the house as a place to hang out, read books, and learn acting. With the real belongings still there.
The subsidence in that living room is scary bad, its definitely sinking down on one side at least. But the place looks almost lived in despite the large cobwebs. Spiders must know when it's time to setup shop once the heat and light is switched off. It's only a certain type of spider that really prefers living inside cold dark spaces...usually abandoned buildings and cupboards.
Trevor Howard died way back in 1988. His wife, actress Helen Cherry, died in 2001, so I'm astonished their home has not been cleared, and contains so many of their personal possessions. I guess others lived there after them? There may be some explanation in the fact they had no children to take care of their estate. The height marks on the wall for various kids must have come later.
Sadly Trevor Howard was a chronic alcoholic. He died at his home in Arkley, Barnet of hepatic failure and cirrhosis of the liver aged 74, a good innings for someone so addicted. An avid cricket fan, he insisted all his contracts contain a clause excusing him from work whenever a Test Match was being played.
He is one of Britain's greatest post-war leading men, probably best remembered for the classic 1945 movie 'Brief Encounter' with Celia Johnson. He has a long and distinguished CV with many big film roles, including 'Around the World in 80 Days' (1956), 'Sons and Lovers' (1960), 'Ryan's Daughter' (1960), 'Superman' (1978), 'The Sea Wolves' (1980), and latterly, 'The Missionary' (1982), 'Gandhi' (1982) and 'White Mischief' (1988).
He declined to be made a CBE in 1982, among only a few hundred people to have refused an official honour, which I think is pretty damned impressive!
This video is almost 7 years old now, so I hope the house is a home once more, and all the personal belongings we saw have been cleared and redistributed with care and respect.
I met Trevor Howard in a pub in Avon Dassett in Warwickshire in 1975. He was friends with the owners of the pub. He was going to play one of the Number 2 's in The Prisoner in the sixties but told me 'for various reasons I couldn't do it'.He thought Mary Morris had done it instead with some adaption to the script!
Lol you actually gave away who lived in that house twice. A very good explore actually, this is the first video from your channel I have watched and I am really impressed with how you narrate. Thanks for sharing. x
This was a lovely little explore. I’m chuffed it hasn’t been trashed. We went the other weekend. That lounge is beautiful. Great video as ever dude 👌🏼👌🏼🔥🔥
