When Pacquiao Faced the Mexican Bull

David Diaz was built for ugly fights. Short, stocky, stubborn, and happy to walk through punches just to land one of his own. By 2008, he was the WBC lightweight champion and had made a career out of dragging opponents into exhausting, bloody battles. Then Manny Pacquiao moved up in weight and decided to test just how tough this Mexican bull really was.

That was the moment the Bull from Mexico met the butcher from the Philippines.

The war between pacquiao and the legendary Mexican fighters were some of the best fire for fire boxing I have ever seen.

NGL. I respect Diaz bcoz he's one of the bravest opponent Pacquiao will ever have. He showed us real sportsmanship. He gave us what we are looking for.. No running. No cheating. DO EVERYTHING BY THE BOOK

for me Diaz is the most respectable opponent of MP next to Morales & Marquez. that was hell of a fight. he even lifted his right hand to MP while on the canvas

14:57 I like how Pacquiao was concerned about Diaz condition by telling the referee to check his cut.

Pacquiao in his prime was a sight to behold. Ali-esque.

Manny is a humble fighter, it would be great to have all boxers adopt his attitude in fighting. Such great sportsmanship! Manny you are a true definition of a leader!

Watching Manny hit this guy is like watching him hit a heavy bag with legs. Sometimes 5 or 6 (or more) shots. The announcer said, '...he doesn't want to be there...' on the ropes. Too true!

I’m 67 years old and still in good shape at 147 pounds. I have loved Manny and Freddy from the beginning. But if Manny was 90 years old and in a wheel chair he would still find a way to beat me. Manny is a Jesus and God loving man. That’s my champion!

@donaldhester6555 10 days ago

the commentators went from "Manny is throwing lots of punches and David is just blocking them with gloves" to "It's just Manny's quickness cutting him up" to " Mohammad never punched like this" and then "this is just a beat down". But in the 1st round, if Diaz landed anything close to a hit, they were talking about the end of Manny's boxing career because of his fight with Marquez. This fight was a beat down from the opening bell.

PAC-Man has a body which eliminates lactic acid so effectively that he is able to keep up a pace that few can match. Strength that is above the average for size and weight. Desire that is stratospheric

At round 7. Pacquiao is already holding back

My dad had Ali during his era, PacMan in mine.

Nobody ever talk about Pac-Man’s legs. They are so built like that man’s got legs of steel.💯

@patalberta5493 10 days ago

It looks like Manny backed off on throwing power punches after seeing Diaz' bloody face

I thought the Barrera fight was the most explosive fight by Pacquia, boy I was wrong - that is it, Manny was truly elite fighter in this decade. hats up to both warriors.
