"No, Patrick, autism is not the worst thing imaginable and vaccines do not cause it."
"ADHD isn't, either."

The thing that i really hate about the vaccine myth is parents who decide risking their childs life by not vaccinating them think having an autistic child is worse than having a dead child,

As autistic myself, I think it’s kind of nice to see more people talking about the fact you know

“Autism is something you grow out of.” Yeah, and I was told my peers would get nicer is they grew up.

I'm female and autistic. One myth my family heavily propagates is that "Autistic people are too unstable to be good parents and/or safe around children."   They will openly tell total strangers with small children within earshot to not leave them alone near me because I will have a blowout.  I'm sitting back laughing my butt off in my head while I have a kid showing off whatever their excited about because everyone else is ignoring them. I work at my local library as a janitor, two kids on the spectrum openly hunt me down to show off their latest project they finished at the kid's craft program every Thursday. I look forward to it.

I'm an autistic woman, and my masking has led to depression. Thanks for making this video. (Also, I love your mom's voice. It's so soothing)

"Do you know who else is a valued member of the community? My mom!"

The “only guys can have autism” myth literally hampered my autism diagnosis. I was always super sensitive to loud sounds & had splinter interests. Ironically, my friend’s parents knew I had autism before I got diagnosed as they have an autistic son & I had similar traits to him. You & several other channels I watch helped me with the push I needed to get diagnosed. I can’t thank you enough for it

I take it Autism Speaks is the PETA of human rights. These past few months, I've been finding out I might have it. I ALWAYS zoned out, was never good at talking to strangers, cluttered speech, routines, noise sensitivities, and paced alot.

If everyone had autism, autism wouldn't be a word

Remember when Peta had the brain deadness say that milk causes Autism. That Is wild

Dang, I’m high functioning, and I was about to cry just five minutes in. Thank you for those positive messages, Strider.

IKR. I was diagnosed with autism but that doesn’t stop me from becoming a ballet dancer or finding a cutesy girl to become my cutesy girlfriend.

The lack of speech means lack of intelligence myth immediately made me think of Jar Jar, and Qui-gon saying  "The ability to speak does not make you intelligence."

This was a really sweet video here. While I’m not autistic or on the spectrum myself, I always like to hear from others with them and their views on it. I’m really glad you made this video focusing on the myths of what people say, and I always like hearing the standpoint of those who have it. It was also very sweet to have your mom, your wife, and doctor say a few words on it. Thanks for doing this Strider; really informative and special video!

i'm so glad you're still able to make youtube videos. your channel isn't just fun but also educational and relaxing. i hope you're able to keep making videos for as long as possible <3

When I was growing up in middle school and what little high school I attended, there was a non verbal kid named Kevin. Nobody knew what Kevin was capable of because of the non verbal and his acting up alot. Then during the talent show Kevin came out and played the piano BEAUTIFULLY! He was capable of more than anyone in that school(except his counselor)

Even worse is the mentality many have of "I would abort my child if they had autism" mentality.

I remember back in 2016 being this a autistic kid who didn't accept myself yet (because of ableism, being bullied, people using "autism" as an insult) and had no friends at school (aside from the birds and frogs), I remember coming home from school to watch your videos and enjoying your channel and it always cheered me up and brought joy to my day. And I remember when you mentioned being autistic in an older video it made my kid self so happy that "wow this person who makes these really good youtube videos is like me"

I'm an autistic woman and a couple of things that I find annoying are when people assume I can't do certain things because I'm autistic and that some people think I use my autism as a way to get away with anything. When people go "don't blame it on your autism" when I get a lecture I'm like "obviously not." Sometimes I'm lazy and one time my mum was like "just because your autistic doesn't mean you can't do the dishes" and I was like "what has my autism got to do with it?!"
