With Bob Hunt & Bill Werwage
Straight Form & Compound Curve
The use of Molded balsa parts for model airplaines is not a new idea; as far back as the 1930s the concept was used to make light, strong, accurate and repeatable components. It seems, however that balsa molding has become one of the many "lost arts" that once again are in demand
In this 105 minute video, you will learn the skill required to easily make a large variety of perfect molded balsa parts from master modelers, Bob Hunt and Bill Werwage.
The video begins with National and World Aerobatic Champion, Bob Hunt, explaining the steps required to generate straight form molded leading edges. Bob is one of the world's most accomplished foam cutters, and in this section he offers many tips on template making and foam cutting, as well as a complete step-by-step instructional on how to accurately attach the finished molded leading edges to a wing frame.
In the second part of the video, five time National and two time World Aerobatic Champion, Bill Werwage, covers in close-up detail how to mold gorgeous compound curved parts. Included in this segment are instructions on how to plot and make hyper-accurate formers; how to assemble, carve and sand perfectly shaped mold bucks; how to size the sheeting for molding; how to wet mold the sheeting on the bucks, including the most sought after tips on slitting and gluing to achieve extreme curved sections; and how to sand the molded shells for a flawless finish.
Whether you are an R/C, C/L or F/F modeler, the skills learned in this video will enable you to produce lighter, stronger and more accurate models. The techniques are easy to learn, and are repeatable!
