We came to Las Vegas leading the Formula Drift Championshipโฆ and left wondering if our shot at title number SIX had just disappeared.
This was always going to be a tough weekend.
James arrived in Vegas after five consecutive race weekends, a little burnt out and now fighting a chest infection on top of it.
Then add the Vegas desert heat.
New slick pavement.
Limited practice.
Nighttime qualifying.
And a track that was incredibly difficult to read.
From the beginning, it felt like everything was working against us.
The team kept pushing, trying to understand the new surface and get the RTR Mustang dialled in with the limited seat time we had.
But qualifying didn't go to plan.
That put even more pressure on game day.
Still, the championship was alive. James came into Vegas leading the standings by a few points, and every battle mattered as we continued chasing what would be an incredible SIXTH Formula Drift Championship.
Then came Top 32.
And pretty much the worst-case scenario happened.
Engine problems.
James' weekend was over.
No chance to fight through the bracket. No opportunity to recover the points. Just a brutal end to one of the most important rounds of the season.
After everything the team has fought through this year, this one hurt.
And with only one round remaining, the big question now is what this means for the championship.
Vegas had other plans. ๐ฒ
But we're not finished yet.
One round left. One final fight.
Let's see what happens. โค๏ธ
