The story of Ron Haslam and the Transatlantic Races is testament to how good these were!

I just bought a second hand mid 80s Honda VFR ,the seller advertised it as a vfr1000 and i could not believe what i saw in the driveway as i pulled up ,1986 VFR1000RR with 28000 kilometres ,it fell off the stand and cracked a fairing about 3 cms it scratched the right side muffler and it runs and rides like a new bike all for 2000 dollars ,theyre out there you just got to be lucky

I owned a 85’ interceptor 500 and 1000, great bikes but my 86’ VFR was one of the best bikes I’ve ever owned. Great handling, fast and yet pretty comfortable. Rode that thing to hell and back and regretted selling it almost immediately.

That is a great bike ,famous V4 😎👍

I’m looking forward to this as the owner of a later 1997 RC36-2. I’ve shared this on Facebook with 3 VFR forums.

I had one of those and in that colour! It was beautifully made and such a fantastic bike to ride.
I know you'll probably not going to ride this in the winter but if you do, block up or remove the little ducts on the back of the main fairing panels that direct air on to the carbs. They're necessary in the summer to stop the carbs getting so hot the fuel boils in the floatbowls but in the winter they can chill the carbs so much they ice up.

Still got my '98 VFR 800 fi

Ooh!! ‘86 VFR RC24 owner here. Spent 18 months getting my bike back on the road. Looking forward to seeing you get stuck into this bike.

Ive missed your videos ash, keep em coming, i own a 2006 vfr vtec

the vfr is beautiful, I recovered a cbr 600 f from 97 with problems with the carburetors too.
Working on it wasn't easy but now it runs like a beauty.
hondas always steal your heart.

I had a VFR750FJ.... probably a model year after yours. It was a really nice bike and was fairly low milage at the time. I remember having the bike in lots of prices the week prior to the 1995 IOM TT to replace the steering head bearings. We got to the TT and watched Joey Dunlop on the RVF750. Even back then it could have done with an aftermarket rear shock upgrade bur had to sell it before the end of that summer........ if truth be known, I probably wasn't mature enough for that much power being still in my late twenties. Nice bike though, and would like the chance to ride one again, for nostalgia and comparison. Enjoying your recommissioning of these older machines. Great channel!

The filter was DARK BROWN petrol. Drain it all out and fill with new super, ethanol free.
