Who remembers the soft spoken Sam the Farrier on Alec’s channel way back when Alec the teenager and Sam was hacking it away inside that cramped workshop they worked out of?

Will's version of meeting Euan the Cooper. What a cool dude, and such a tough job. So much respect.

Getting the shoe off the horse was like watching an old lady open a jar of pickles. 😅

That horse was so patient! He really did seem to understand that he had a child trying to shoe him, lol

Love seeing other metal workers try a day in a farriers shoes. Now you see why they move so fast. You will hurt like hell tomorrow. I remember the day i started my apprenticeship and how much I hurt every day for the first few months until I got used to it!

Well done Will 💪🏼⚒️

I never realized how difficult of a job this is until I saw a beginner next to a master and compared. Holy smokes!

The truest sign of mastery is making it look easy.

The difference between the two way of holding the hammer was way more interesting than it should have been 😮

Cool video! I grew up in Colorado on a horse ranch. We raised and trained Palomino Quarter Horses. The Farrier would come out every six weeks or so and take care of our horses. I used to love watching him work. And at the time, that all just seemed normal every day stuff. My dad always said how I grew up would seem way more special when I was older, and he was right.

I used to be able to forge 3 sets of shoes in an our from fullered steel... there's rythym to it... took 3 heats for each shoe from my own design gas forge on the back of my truck. Shoes made in opposite handed pairs alternating from fire to anvil. Carriage horse shoes for road work took a lot lonnger foring them from flat stock steel with the ned tyo upset the toe a bit.. Takes practice to get fast and not waste the heat... trying to go fast doesn't work, which is something I always stressed to our apprentices.
TYHis bladesmith has a great tutor.... really knows his stuff.
