Chris Slix Helped Us Build His McLaren Engine!

Chris Slix joins us to work on his salvage McLaren 650S engine as we double team it to assemble the bottom end, rebuild the heads, fit the manifolds and turbos, plus other bits. It was great to see Chris and be able to show him what goes on in the engine-building room – we even let him use the posh, Snap-On "beepy" torque wrench!

Half the time I've got no idea what your doing, but it's bloody addictive watching you rattle round these engines with such skill and knowledge recall.
I almost wish I could afford a £100k+ super car, screw the engine and have the satisfaction and reassurance of you re-building it 😂.

Love the hands on engine building, I’ve worked at an engine manufacturer for the last 20 odd years using a lot of machines to do most of the assembly which is boring. We had to build the first 50 engines by hand to get the knowledge before using the machines and it gives you an appreciation for how it all goes together. An engine rolls off the production line every 50seconds
