Goodbye Tim Apple, welcome John Apple

Finally, a REAL engineer at the CEO of a tech company instead of just some MBA grad

A welcomed surprise for me is that John has a technical background. And being an internal promotion of a long time engineer rather than an outside hire.

End of an era. I didn't realize Tim Cook was CEO for 15 years already. That's crazy. I hear great things about Ternus. He respects privacy rights and thinks a lot like Cook. Plus he'll have the technical knowledge to make things better quickly, if needed, on device.

I've been neutral to negative on Apple. This change sounds like neutral to positive.

This looks like a major positive move for Apple, can’t wait to see what’s next.

All I hope is that he's not afraid of innovating again. Part of what made me love apple at first was making something very novel and interesting with the first iPhone. Now we get firmware updates packages as innovation when it's a feature that's been out by android for years.

One of the few companies that gives the CEO position to someone from the company AND also a technical backgroud. That is very rare in todays times.

Tim Cook was also famous for engaging in financial engineering, things like stock buybacks, moving profits over to tax havens like ireland, and of course building international infrastructure that allows rock bottom prices for assembly. The future is less glabal, more automated. And an engineer needs to be at the head to make sure those robots do the physical building correct

1:00 he’s not stepping down. He’s stepping up. CEO to Executive Chairman is a promotion. That’s the biggest seat in any company. CEO’s report to the board that is lead by the exec chairman

Good to see someone a little younger, and far better versed on Apple and their products. Someone who can lead for a decade or more and still not be at retirement age.

If the AI is stored locally it can become ultra personalized which could work amazingly for voice commands and privacy concerns, personal and commercial use. I believe this is the strategy.
