Frank DeCicco engineered Paul Castellano's death and built the foundation of John Gotti's empire — but died in a car bomb four months into the underboss role. The family he left behind was never the same. Sammy Gravano eventually took the position, then cooperated with the FBI and brought down Gotti entirely. Standing beside Gotti at arrest was consigliere Frank LoCascio, a loyal Bronx capo who served quietly through the entire rise and fall. Convicted alongside Gotti in April 1992, LoCascio told the court at sentencing that he was guilty only of being John Gotti's friend. He died in federal prison on October 1, 2021, at eighty-nine years old.
