I miss those early days so much! Introduced to extreme metal by a friend back in late ‘88/‘89. It was such a mind blowing revelation. Now at the age of 54, the nostalgia for pre internet metal music is strong in me!!!

Morbid Angel never recorded with Scott Burns. Tom Morris and Digby Pearson were the producers of Altars of Madness.
Tom Morris also produced Blessed are the Sick. Flemming Rasmussen helmed the controls for Covenant.
There was also a midwest scene starting with Master and Broken Hope from Chicago. Tech Death in Kansas from Origin.

Possessed Seven Churches is the birth of Death Metal 🤘 I saw them open up for Slayer on the Hell Awaits tour and they made Slayer sound like a church choir, lol. So heavy, so destructive and evil as hell! Nothing sounded like Possessed back then. I still have my original vinyl from 1985 and it's still one of the heaviest things ever recorded 🤘🍻😎

I put Venom or even DEATH before Possessed! as 1st Thrash! Celtic Frost or even HellHammer, as the 1st Death Metal band!. DEATH is Even a contender for this. Of course Morbid Angel came onto the scene and Defined the Death Genere as well as others! Bathory is of the first Black Metalists! Metalica and MegaDeth both redefined the new Thrash, while King Diamond and Merciful fate are drawint the line imbetween Thrash and PROG, as well as QueensRyche! and Iron Maiden! Meanwhile Motorhead are just churning ou Speed Metal and the country things that Lemmy did! Napalm Death just made noise in the beginning! Black Flag & SOD & DRI invented CrossOver!
There are Soo Many different Generas here!
