After putting around 50 km on the Topo Vista, including taking them up Fairview Mountain above Lake Louise in Banff National Park, I'm ready to share my thoughts on whether this highly cushioned trail shoe is right for the kind of hiking I do in the Canadian Rockies.
In this review, I take a look at the specs and features of the Topo Athletic Vista before putting them to the test on the steep and rocky terrain of Fairview Mountain. There's a lot I really like about the Vista, particularly the comfort and Topo's approach to fit, but my time in the shoe also revealed a couple of concerns.
One is the high stack height and the effect it has on stability when hiking steep or uneven terrain. The other was an unexpected tear that appeared after approximately 50 km of use.
That left me wondering whether the Vista is actually the wrong Topo for the type of hiking I do. Would something like the Topo MTN Racer 4 or Topo Ultraventure be a better match for long days and technical mountain terrain?
In the video I'll show you how the Vista performed on the trail, what I liked, what I didn't, and whether I'd choose it again.
In this review I cover:
✅ Comfort
✅ Grip
✅ Cushioning and stability
✅ Toe box fit
✅ My final verdict
If you're considering the Topo Vista for hiking, trail running or long days in the mountains, hopefully my experience helps you decide whether it's the right shoe for you.
