The problem with their songs is they were never written for them, pop star academy had over 20 girls and while yes they had favourites, any one of them could’ve made it to the group so you wouldn’t know the exact talents you were working with. Almost 90% of their discography are songs that were in demo limbo for years, Gabriella was a demo that has existed since at least 2017, gnarly was made in 2020 and mean girls was made around 2022. None of those songs are made to cater to the girls talents, they were made to be generic pop songs that would work for a girl group, it’s clear that the girls have very different music taste than their current sound given the fact that the songs Megan and Lara are producing in their free time are almost the polar opposite to the group songs. It just sucks when you can see the potential they hold and yet we’re getting glorified Disney channel music

All that talent and  training just for them to sing Eat Zucchini?????? So Gabriela is their only (imo) solid song where they actually SAAANG.

They should give give Katseye R&B, pop, alternative songs

It is a shame yet somewhat funny that Hybe seems to be in the reverse when it comes to their groups. They give Le Sserafim songs which a too vocally demanding for their members but when it comes to Katseye, who definitely have the vocal chops to handle more complex songs, they give them very simplistic pop songs.

The fact that the majority of their fans follow them due to their personalities and ethnicity and not their music could be a problem in the future. They are not supposed to be influencers, they are MUSICIANS AND ARTIST. So, if one day they do something controversial, people will not be willing to follow them because their music (the only thing that left) will be generic, mediocre and in the worst scenario, BAD. They make these songs work due to their personalities and talent but that only works in perfomances, not streamings

10:10 this is exactly the problem you completely nailed it 100%!!! They can make anything work so it seems like the management is fine with giving them nothing and letting the girls do everything to make it successful. The fans are still eating it up so there's no incentive for them to change, it'll have to come down to them actually caring about what the artists want and that's not a guarantee to ever happen. If they continue to treat them this way I don't see the group lasting for the long run. They're going to be hungry for the freedom to show off their creativity and individual style.

Like WDYM you have a Main Dancer that is a very competent vocalist, a girl that was in musical teather, a former Kpop trainee, a Girl a lower vocie to die for, a filipina girl that has been singinf since she was 5 & miss global rising pop star sensation Lara Raj, and You make them sing "Eat Zuchinni"? Like make it make sensw

Great talent but trash diacography
Can't even process the fact that they are nominated to the grammys while Little Mix and Fith Harmony were never but I guess that's on Hybe's paycheck

it was amusing to watch fans defending that eat zucchini song like it was clever writing.

What’s crazy is they put all this effort into assembling and training a group of undeniably talented women and now they seem to want to flush it down the toilet. They could be leaders in the industry and HYBE just doesn’t care. It makes no sense.

Especially with Megan. She has tons of emotion in her voice when she sings ballads.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I used to listen to girl groups like Little Mix and Destiny’s Child, where every song showcases their vocals not only individually but also in harmony. I’m not saying KATSEYE’s songs are bad, but they could be improved a lot more with more vocal nuance. Lara and Sophia are great vocalists who can go crazy on high notes, and Manon has such a cool and rich tone in her voice that could be used a lot more (like in the Buttons performances, where her tone stands out so much). I hope that in their next album they create songs that showcase their vocals... not every song needs to be focused only on choreography.

Sophia can sing but Hybe put her vocals and gave her a life changing line which is " na na na na gnarly ". 🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a joke.

Forget about showcasing their vocal potential, if they get a decent pop-rnb song over 3m30s long with a full bridge and it HAS NOT been in the label  limbo for almost a decade,  that's good enough for now

7:38 omg, I thought I was the one being crazy!! I literally cannot differentiate between their voices on the studio tracks. They sound like a soloist. The only one that stands out is Manon because of her naturally deeper voice, but even then, her tone sounds the same as the others. I'll always be a huge fan of Little Mix, and on their tracks, you could tell when each girl was singing. They had their quirks and vocal identifiers. KATSEYE all have such unique voices, but they somehow mesh into one during studio recordings. It's just such a waste of their talents :(

If they had all these note changes they did on tour actually in the studio versions their songs would have sm more personality

It's insane to me that these girls have disney princess singing voices and they're making them sing trash.

Like Hybe finally managed to get competent vocalists and this is what they do

Megan can sing. Yoonchae can sing. Daniela can sing. Manon can sing. Stopppp using Lara and Sophia and they’re not even using them to their full extent. Literally listen to Megan in her confidence performance. Where is that in the discography, absolutely nowhere. They only use Sophia and Lara vocals when ALL the girls can sing. Please Hybe just one album

Nah I feel like I'm being trolled or this is some 5d chess marketing strategy my brain can't understand because it should be illegal to keep giving them these songs.

Theyre so talented but their discography don’t reflect that at all
