Bill, the Featherweight Guy, has a Singer 221 Featherweight motor sent to him by his customer, Becky. She had been attempting to perform a tune-up on the motor and her efforts resulted in the motor no longer working. Bill shows how he evaluated the motor, identified the likely problem, and then performed a complete refurbishing of the motor so that it looks and runs like new again.

Thank you for the motor restoration Bill. I bought a featherweight 222K it came with a British 220 V motor disassembled 110 V motor disassembled and a 110 V motor assembled.. My plan is to put together another 110 motor from the other parts I just need to sort the 220V coils and armature from the 110 ones.

I saw a video had been posted by Bill, I clicked - and I wasn't disappointed. That is one shiny motor housing, Bill, my beady little magpie eyes were eyeing it up... Just as well I can't reach in through the screen and grab it off you to admire my reflection in it!

Nice job showing and explaining the motor refurbishing process. Thank you 😊. Would you show us how you remove the badges before painting? I had mine painted without removing the badge and it was damaged. Now I want to replace it but I want to retain the little brads that have the “flower” design stamped on them. It is a 1934 or 35 (can’t recall right now) school bell. I had it painted a dark metallic purple.
On another note, I had a lady bring her 221 to me with a motor that wasn’t working. Her husband decided to check it out without any research and decided he didn’t know what to do so he “put it back together without regard to the brushes and broke one Bakelite motor brush housing, bent one brush tube and at some point had pulled off and bent up the quarter sized piece of metal that butts up against the commutator bars. More or less just jammed it all back in the housing. I was able to get it all back together and working after buying some “new” used parts. It was not easy. But, that aside, I really want to know about badge removal and replacement please.
