Thanks Jack, we're remarkably well aligned in our favourites, I also feel the Boiler hammer has pipped the Bedrock, but I also really like the spear headed Awl ( looks top quality ) and the Chesterman vernier. one of my enduring didn't-buy regrets was a rail engineer's track testing hammer with a yard long handle and a relatively light head ! Btw, I have a small old wooden matchbox ( Briant and May I think ) that contains a similar selection of Schrader valve tools, Presta adapters and dust caps, it lived on the shelves in my parent's garage all my life till now !
The WW2 hammer is the star buy for me too! There is a sadness for the lack of appreciation for articles such as that hammer, but until you cleaned it, no one would have known its historic origin. Well done Jack!
I've watched numerous videos of yours. You tend to buy the same tool's all the time, You must have sheds full of the same tools Why? When I go to a car boot sale, I skip the tools and collectables I already own.
The Bedrock definitely the best find!! The ww2 hammer is also quite special. Have you ever had a go at repairing or piecing together an old boxwood rule?
Best buys for me... the beautiful old awl and for reasons of sentiment, the new old stock hacking knife. I wore out a few like that back in the day, building transportable site buildings.
A few years ago I acquired a vintage W H Clay Ltd hack knife in the worst possible state, really badly treated. Having been beaten to death it had found a new career stirring filler. I think what I turned it into might be called a resto mod hack knife. Dismantled, restored the blade, sharpened to a point where it could be shaved with, fitted sculpted Cocobolo scales with brass pins. Leather cover made for the blade. A bit daft of course, but beautiful.
It was the boiler makes hammer tell I saw the Stanley plane jack I collect hammers axes and planes love that Stanley plane it just edges the hammer into second place
Hi Jack - that Spear Pointed Awl is the star for me. Never seen a Boiler Makers Hammer before - it's great but I don't know when I might need one ! The Stanley Plane is a good find too, so you got some more Gems there ! Take care π
