Protests against CEC Gyanesh Kumar are growing, with hundreds detained in Delhi and demonstrations in Mumbai demanding his resignation.
At the same time, the Election Commission of India has announced a series of reforms. Meeting agendas will be circulated. Minutes will be recorded. ECINet will be reviewed. Some voters affected by the SIR will get additional assistance.
But why are these safeguards being announced now? What happened during the months when two Election Commissioners recorded objections? And what about voters who were already affected by errors in the system?
In this episode of #LetMeExplain, Pooja Prasanna looks at the ECI’s reforms and the questions they leave unanswered.
Produced by Megha Mukundan, script by Pooja Prasanna, Edit by Nikhil Sekhar ET, Camera by Ajay R
