[POST 2026 SUMMER NEWSLETTER/WEBSITE UPDATE]

The fox has done it again. Deltarune.com/chapter5/ updated.
Looks like the chapter 7 Weird Route will be MORE THAN TWICE as long and/or significant as chapter two’s (??), and when you click on the 7, you see symbols and bars that seem to indicate 7B’s development progress. Map and cutscenes almost done, bullets and bugs (?) still need work. Side B will actually be a full, unique Chapter Seven, with at least it's own bullets and battles and seemingly a whole separate map.

Narratively, if the weird route has diverged from the main timeline to this extent, this means there does exist a path forward outside of the prophecy. We can and will achieve a sequence of events genuinely unaccounted for by The Device and the Gaster OS. As for what this means for the conclusions of this video, this update is an absolutely MASSIVE point in the favor of the “diegetic cut content” angle and against it being a purely "canon glitch".

Thanks so much for the support so far. Much to ponder. This is a lot. I’m scared. I’m scared.

Quick clarification at 3:49 about the "three smiling people" card: this does have three people on both routes (it just changes who those people are). Since both the weird and the normal routes have this card, it means that both timelines would result in the same things happening in Undertale and to Sans. If a player were to somehow only play Snowgrave, their playthrough would be the same amount of "canon" as a typical playthrough with only the normal route.

"Imagine Poor Noelle Clipping Into A Wall Somewhere"

The relation to Ralsei holding Kris' hands to cross the spikes was such an amazing pull that makes so much sense in how it correlates to Noelle so much. It gives me the imagery of breaking out of bounds in Half Life, where a player jumps off a box then grabs it, bringing  it closer to jump off again, repeating until they float high up and above the map. Noelle is using the hand holding as one action, like grabbing the box, while our proceed works like jumping off the box. Those two functions work in tandem to break the game, as like you said with the spikes being limitations to the player, the player can technically only jump on solid ground. But if the ground were to move up each time the player jumped...

35:25 To give my best guess as to why Sans is the one to give the bread, I think it's probably just an indication that he is keeping an eye on you. Him being the only character (other than Rudy) still present at the festival in the Weird Route while everyone else is busy crowning Festival King and Queen is already an indicator of this, but giving you an item that explicitly leaves a trail seems to me like the smoking gun that Sans has figured out that SOMETHING is off on the weird route, and is trying to play babysitter in his normal, half committed way.

According to device theory, gaster's connection to the player (via the soul) is mediated diagetically by suspension of disbelief. In the weird route, the player treating deltarune like a game (making Noelle stronger) weakens that power, eventually leading to gaster's program breaking down with the "insert side b" screen.

24:21 strengthening this connection, in Chapter 4, there's a scene where Susie skips stones across the Lake, and she actually says "Lake skip!"

39:55 One thing of note on the topic of Ralsei and the weird route.

The exact moment the weird route starts is in chapter 2, when Ralsei asks you if you'd rather go with him or Susie. Meaning you were always meant to go the top path with one of them. Susie intervened and dragged Ralsei off instead.

In chapter 4, Ralsei mentions that he knows what items Noelle can equip. So he knows she can be a party member. But she's only ever a party member because Susie broke Ralsei's dialogue and dragged him off.

He knew if Kris went down there, they would meet Noelle and team up. And that's exactly when you gain the ability to break the game. Ralsei was trying to prevent the weird route from ever happening, by forcing us to take the top path away from her, and framing it as a choice of who to take. Susie was mad we always get to choose and made a third choice Ralsei didn't account for.

Susie was upset that we get to choose, when it was Ralsei even offering a binary choice to begin with. We would have had all the choice in the world if Ralsei hadn't stepped in.

I think Ralsei knew what Noelle could accomplish if we were in charge of her. He wanted either himself or Susie to team up with her instead, to prevent that. There would be no Snowgrave if Susie hadn't broken his question.

Interesting that Ralsei has similar power and chooses not to use it, and enough knowledge to try and prevent us from gaining such power.

He just stopped being subtle about it in chapter 4 with the prophecy written on the walls. But he's been doing this for ages.

Since an abortion of the weird route still has the characters recognizing that it happened, this puts scary implications on Susie going to tell Noelle about the dark world.

Bonus: in the GBA release of Mother 1, the Pippi crumbs glitch (which if done correctly, sequence breaks you to a cutscene that enables the flag to encounter Giegue) is patched from the game.

5:30 In the normal route, if you vote for Kris and her, Kris deliberately misspells their names to reference them trying to win the vote while they were little. Noelle then writes those names too because "I still think they deserve to win..." Could be that the vote she makes in the weird route is the same one, making it up to her past self now that she will finally "win" the festival with Kris, though in a different way.

5:35 I personally feel like her being "excited" to vote for Festival King and Queen is a reference to how she seems to be "retracing her steps" so to speak, on the Weird Route. Tying up loose ends. As we know, in the past, Noelle and Kris tried to vote for themselves as King and Queen, and Noelle still looks back on that time with nostalgia. Of course, they didn't win, cementing for Noelle a lifetime of her choices never mattering.

Here though, it's different. Here, she gets to choose Kris and herself, and have it matter. Here, she gets to go back to that time back then, when she could say no to people. It's a combination of her feeling nostalgic for a time when she and Kris were still together, and everything made sense (a time she is hoping to get back to here), as well as a feeling of finally being empowered to choose, and choosing herself and Kris over anything else.

"Something horrible is stirring underneath the town."

I don't think we give enough credit to how ominous that particular line is. I'm starting to think that maybe the guy who's associated with the number "666" isn't so nice/neutral after all.

27:07 there is an unused item in chapter 5’s data known as the “GildedRose”, and its description is “Armour rings with a rose motif. Any thorns are pointed outwards so you don't hurt yourself”. It is a ring, so only Noelle can use it, and when she puts it on, she says “Wow! Something I actually want to wear?”. I say this because I find it interesting that it is outwardly specified that it cannot hurt Noelle due to its thorns pointed outwards, unlike the thorn ring

it really feels like we have a game cheater, a game guide, a game breaker, and a game player

6:30 I would like to point out the way they do it, by using the opposite end of the hammer and lightly tapping the pressure plate. I think this is meant to invoke a integer underflow, where a bit assigned for only positive numbers tries to read a negative number and loops back up MUCH higher than it should. A widely known example is somehow using an item from a stack of 0, which after calculating how many you should have after rolls back up to 255.

I think it's interesting that Malius started talking about trying to uncover the power of "Bread" since taking over the bakery in Castle Town.  It's easy to read that as just Toby pulling a silly, but it seems to carry a little more weight now that Bread is just sitting there as this conspicuously unexplained element of the Weird Route.

The concept of emotional manipulation% to skip a chapter is so fascinating to me, its so reminiscent of skips in games where you start out by thinking "why is this guy wasting time doing this weird action" and then they pull off something diabolical later on

I think Noelle saying "Since Dess left" is supposed to signalized she gave up on Dess. Everyone thinks she dissapeared but Noelle just blantly says that she left her own sister, mother, father, Asriel, everyone, to live her life.

I also interpret it as Noelle gaslighting herself that "if it worked for her maybe it will work for me" or smth like that, idk

Something to also note, the Player is restricted from using spells in battle unless they have enough TP in order to do that, and since people like Susie or Ralsei aren't restricted with the TP, they can also cast spells.
