This video is intended as a tribute to the monumental work of historian Jean Julien and a contribution to the reconstruction of Haiti, a cause so dear to him. You will discover the presidency of Paul E. Magloire, who, in my opinion, is the most overlooked president in Haitian history, because he was obscured for some thirty years by the Duvalier regime. This non-profit presentation is a way to introduce you to the historian's CDs, which have been available since 2004. From 1957 onward, Paul Magloire's name was erased from all public buildings. All his achievements were thwarted by the Duvaliers. The cities of Cap-Haïtien and Gonaïves, restored under his administration, were ostracized and neglected. The construction of the Péligre Dam, essential for the country's development, was suspended for eight years. For baby boomers, Paul Magloire means: the one who had President Dumarsais Estimé assassinated, even though the facts tell us otherwise.
This slice of history is prepared and narrated by Jean Julien in a series of 16 CDs, covering a period from 1492 to the rule of François Duvalier.
