I saw the Britten race at Manfeild New Zealand,  I was among the track crew and were sitting having a drink after the meeting when John came and sat with us and gave us a large box of beers, I got the feeling that he wanted to stay and chat with us much longer than he did as there were many people trying to drag him away, I was totally shocked when not long after this I heard that he had died, he had so much more to give. RIP John you will never be forgotten

My wife & I had the privilege of staying at John's house twice when his daughter owned it. i stayed in the actual workshop he built the bike in, it was such a privilege. I stud beside the pool  looking in their thinking of when he got the buckets of water out of it for the motor. I saw the door handles and everything else he made. I will never forget staying there. Definitely a bucket list. RIP John

I remember the first time I'd ever heard of John Britten, it was probably 1984 ish , at motorcycle racing on a street course in the  industrial area near Portsmouth Drive in Dunedin on a chilly winters Sunday. His bike that was racing obviously wasn't the one that made him famous, but an earlier iteration.

A close friend of mine was at St Andrews with John. I wish I could have got to meet him. A true gem. Proud to  be a Kiwi 🙂

In 2009 I traveled to Invercargill New Zealand and stood behind the bike as Andrew Stroud fired up one of these bikes to race in the Wyndham street race. A sight and sound I hope to never to forget

I saw Robert Holden race one at the cemetery circuit in Wanganui. On the last lap on main straight he looked over his shoulder gestured where are they in coasted until they caught up then passed them on the back wheel to take the win hahaha

The thought he was being picked on because he couldn't race a purpose built race bike against a production bike off the showroom floor is ridiculous. The solution is simple. Build a street bike, wich should sell like hotcakes, and move on. Good Lord.
