I think you had a rather extreme opinion of the 06 accubond bullet.  I don't think it was anywhere near as close to "failure" as you seemed to think it was.

Thanks for the great video! Please do more on the 35 Whelen when you can. Thanks again!

225 grain Trophy Bonded Bear Claw 35 Whelen went through a 4 inch diameter hardwood dead center at 50 yards hit 12 pt buck in shoulder 1 yard behind tree and exited rib cage. Buck went down and never flinched.

Increasing the caliber makes the bullet easier to push so you don’t actually lose speed when you go up in caliber. For example, I get up to 2900fps with a 225gr bullet in the 35 Whelen. You won’t get anywhere near that with the same bullet weight in a 30-06. The larger surface area of the back of the bullet makes it easier to push.

I’m liking that 35 Whelen 225 accu bond load a lot

I love my 35 Whelen . Everything I shoot with falls down

Thanks for the video. It was a hard work.

Hey man great video I played it on 1.5x only complaint i have is the static white noise.

I use 35 whelen, and .270.   Have tried..literally.. all commercial loads available where I live.  Have shot many moose, deer, and elk.  I always go back to "how dead is dead".
Both calibers have consistently dropped animals in their tracks.  Complete pass throughs, or bullet recovered in hide on off side.
.270 with Barnes 130g x, and later ttsx... perfect performance on moose, elk.  DRT.  is now our go-to combo.  Have killed up to 300 yds.
.35 whelen, same results.  Not partial to 225g TBBC.. too stiff.  No expansion.
I can say that the most emphatic kill I've ever seen was on a huge 6x6 bull elk.  200 yd, quartering to. 35 whelen with 225 gr accubond.  On video.
Bull collapsed straight down.  All 4 legs collapsed at same time..not one flutter or twitch of any bodypart.  Deadnuts dead. Bullet not recovered.
In the real world, how dead is dead?  IMHO... with MANY kills on all 3 species...high speed with stout bullet works best.  Soft cup n cores disintegrate.  With my 2 pet calibers, if I had to pick one bullet,  give me a barnes ttsx all day.  In whelen...that accubond was devastatingly impressive.
Just sayin!

Bout 16mins in, once you got to the Partition.  Late 40's is when it was created, maybe '47 or '48.  After a moose hunt in Northern BC I think. He was shooting jacketed bullets of the era and it took 7 shots.
This was an interesting video.  I shoot all three bullets in handloads in 30-06. But I have heard information from the vortex podcast when they had the hornady ballistics guru on that the gell they use is the one with animal byproducts in jt, it rots after say 12-24 hours. And therefore true data is only achieved in gel tests for terminal ballistics with this medium.

The partition was invented in 1948, and the core-lokt in 1939. Bonded bullets came along in the 70s.

ive shot a moose the last 5 years with the 35 whelen  and 250 grain partitions,  havent recovered a bullet yet. ive had good luck loading with Varget

Yes sir much better this time !! Awesome results !!  I like the Barnes but hard to come by here lately.  Thanks again for the video !!

I appreciate all of the hard work that went into providing this informative and well put together presentation! The only 30-06 I've ever owned got turned into a 35 Whelen as soon as it got home :) I considered a 338, however with the larger frontal area and higher Sectional Density.. I went with the soon to be (2023) hundred year old cartridge. With modern bullets and powders, properly loaded the 35 Whelen can run with the real big guns! Here's an example.. Accubond 59756 250gr .366" sized down to .358" RL17 3.482" COL .505 BC (Estimated, based off of Factory .366" .494) 1.408" Bullet MPBR 302yd  MV - 2,885  FPE 4,620 Custom Built Savage 110 31" 1:12"
Cryo-Treated barrel.  I'm considering one day turning it into a Brown-Whelen, Only if I ever get my hands on a good amount of RL26.. I have a QL estimate showing 2,910fps 5,170fpe with a 275gr (.631 Est. BC) CuttingEdge Maximus! | 1760yd  1120fps! (1,400fps min. expansion threshold) Long live Whelen & Howe's creation. Just because it's the latest, doesn't mean it's the greatest ;)

Been using barns for decades never had a failure, from 22 to 7mm calibers

Thanks for the video. You have some really nice rifles.

Very interesting. I like the 35 whelen

You did just fine or better than I could've done so don't sell yourself short,  now if the same type of test but use of a non bonded bullet to compare too would also be an interesting comparison and the smaller calibers you mentioned, it is very nice fore people to do this kind of work and there is a lot more to it than what is on the video, don't sell yourself short you did a very good job and I would very much like to see more of your videos, it appeals to me for I have been hand loading and hunting for 40 + years, no complaints here.
Aim small, good hunting, GOD bless.

I'm surprised that you were getting such great performance out of a 21" barrel on the .35w.  Great info.

Any of my recovered ttsx have been amazing good mushrooms. I find them hard to rationalize a need for anything else. Small tweeks will always be a welcome on anything mankind ever does. But the basics of the vortex are undeniable.
