One of the most difficult and bloody chapters of the Great Patriotic War is the Battle of Rzhev.
After fierce fighting near the small village of Ovsyannikovo, only a third of the Soviet rifle company remains.
Exhausted, wounded, and deprived of full support, the soldiers hold their positions, hoping for reinforcements.
But instead of the long-awaited help, a new order comes from headquarters.
The village must be held at all costs.
This means only one thing – retreat is out of the question.
Every soldier understands that the chances of escaping this encirclement alive are rapidly fading. However, an order remains an order, meaning a new battle awaits them.
Amid constant shelling, a shortage of ammunition, and the expectation of a German attack, a junior lieutenant—a member of the special department—arrives in the village.
His task is no less dangerous than defending the positions.
According to available information, there may be a traitor among the soldiers, passing important information to the enemy.
The lieutenant is convinced that exposing the traitor can prevent further losses and hasten victory.
A complex investigation begins under the conditions of the front, where everyone is under suspicion.
People who just yesterday were attacking together and covering each other under fire are now forced to doubt even their comrades.

Tension mounts with each passing hour.
The German units are preparing a new assault, while within the defense, a conflict of their own is brewing.
Suspicion, fear, fatigue, and despair are beginning to erode trust between soldiers.

But war leaves no time for clarification of relationships. When the enemy launches another attack, everyone must choose between duty, conscience, and the desire to survive.

Gradually, it becomes clear that the greatest test awaits the heroes not only on the battlefield, but also within themselves.
Because in war, the cost of a mistake can be more terrible than any bullet.

This is a powerful war drama about courage, camaraderie, suspicion, and human resilience. It tells the story of people caught in the deadly trap of the Battle of Rzhev, where the struggle is waged not only against the enemy, but also against fear, mistrust, and despair.
