Cars with Toy Story graphics.

The racers in this trailer have an incredible "killer bean" aura

Its crazy how good cars looks in 2006, it could come out today and i wouldnt notice its 18 years old

So Corrosion Seal seems to be prototype of Rust-Eze. Quite interesting.

It looks like tech demo footage that was animated in 2001 - prior to ray tracing VFX in Pixar’s RenderMan.

That 57 red racecar is the original design for McQueen!

Chick doesn't resemble a Riviera, he resembles a Buick GNX.

Fun fact: Chick Hicks's number has a double meaning: it's a reference to 1986, the year Pixar was founded and they released the short Luxo Jr, but 86 is also slang for "destroying" and "getting rid of", reflecting his bad behaviour during the races. Similarly, his prototype's number, 13, is considered an unlucky number, mainly because of the infamous day Friday the 13th. This number was given to Ripslinger, the main antagonist of Planes

8:16 Not only are the eyes different, but in the final movie they gave him a soft-top sunroof that is puffed up at the front to resemble some sort of hat, like a beret I think, or maybe a haircut?

0:24 I can smell his breathing through the screen

I had assumed it was test animation made sometime before Nemo as none of the sponsors reference that movie. They probably just used this footage as they didn't have enough final footage to use at the time. Then again, Pixar used to always use original animation for their teasers.
And I imagine the thinking behind adding McQueen & Mater at the end watching it was to remind the audience who the main characters were. I saw this for the first time when I saw the Incredibles in theaters and wasnt sure what exactly to make of it. But when I saw Cars when it came out, I was hooked.

This teaser trailer actually made it’s debut during the theatrical release of The Incredibles in 2004. Cars was originally supposed to be released on November 4th 2005, but because Steve Jobs wanted a summer release date, it was delayed to June 9th 2006.

It’s crazy that even a 2005 animation still looks so good

Green Day and Pixar are two things I definitely didn’t expect to see together

Is that the Cars video game music I hear? Nice touch! The nostalgia is real!

That shot of racers rear wheel even uses the same audio for the engine sound as the final flim

0:26 the spoiler of that car reminds me of the 2000-2002 Pontiac gran prix spoiler they used in nascar.

I always loved the song that played, it was Westbound Sign by Green Day, and it fit so well

5:15 Corrosion Seal actually did make it into the movie, but they renamed Corrosion Seal as Rust-eze.

one thing i find super interesting is that their windscreens and eyelids have a more distinct separation. in the final movie, most cars have a single eyebrow without the groove in the middle.
