São Paulo is definitely not a paradise, but it’s not that bad in terms of safety either. People tend to exaggerate a lot.

Don't think that Brazil is limited to just São Paulo and Rio; each state and each region is completely different, with many different cultures and customs due to immigration from many countries.

People often have a lot of prejudice about Brazil, especially in Europe and the US. But honestly, the precautions you should take as a tourist here aren’t that different from the ones you’d take in places like Paris, London, or New York. That’s also why Brazil has been increasingly turning toward Asia, cause historically, what we’ve often received from Europe and the US is a condescending, prejudiced, and extractive view shaped by colonial attitudes. Meanwhile, Asian visitors, including many Chinese tourists, usually just take normal travel precautions like they would anywhere else and that’s it.

You are in an expensive area of São Paulo. You can find everything much more affordable in other parts of the city. R$200 is enough to buy groceries for a whole week if you shop in other areas.

Dude, you're probably in one of the most expensive neighborhoods of SP. If you explore around a little bit, you're going to see that there are places with much better prices in Brazil. That said, stay aware of scammers when buying things from street vendors. Don't be afraid to talk to people. The few of us who speak English just love the opportunity to practice it and wouldn't mind to show you new interesting places, culture and food. Enjoy!

At this time of year, it rains every day from January to March. But it's a summer rain, warm and pleasant, perfect for a swim.

That was really nice. Others great healthy days in São Paulo could be on a Sunday at Paulista Ave which is close for leisure and sports. And the viaduct Minhocão surrounded by murals which is also exclusive for pedestrians runners and bikers on weekends. It’s really nice
