This Model Kit Almost Made Me Quit Scale Modelling | Revell A340 1/144 Scale Model Build | 4K

DS Mini Builds

Today I build Revell’s 1/144 Airbus A340-300 in Lufthansa colours, taking this classic four-engine airliner from an older kit with plenty of fit issues to a fully painted, decalled and subtly weathered finished model.

Inspired by flying the A340 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, this build covers everything from cockpit detailing and filling the cabin windows to fixing seams, painting the Lufthansa livery, applying Cartograf decals, weathering the engines and wings, and final assembly.

If you’re into airliners, aviation, scale modelling, or just enjoy relaxing model builds, this one’s for you. Let me know in the comments what aircraft you’d like to see me build next!

🎥 Watch till the end for the full reveal.

Usually I see military models having a bunch of dirty weathering, so this is really cool to see someone doing a commercial build for once. I really like the clean shiny look but still with subtle weathering.

Awesome build!

Nice work right there. I don't usually watch plane builds but you kept me interested to watch more. Well done, great video and fantastic build too.
Good luck for the 1K subs, you are only 12 away.. let's gooo ☺️💪🏼

Superb work !

I know your pain; I built that model two months ago. It’s basically a flying lump of putty—plus that awful nose section. Classic early-90s kit engineering. Only the decals were decent. That’s why I bought the Authentic Airliners A340. I’m also pinning my hopes on Zvezda; the fuselages of their A330 clearly suggest they might make an A340 someday, too.

Saw this build as it was progressing and amazing to finally see a hard kit like Revell's finished up. Fantastic work!

Let’s go brother! Great video and great result on the plane. You did a ton of work getting such a clean result on an old Revell kit, impressive!

I was expecting to see 5-10k subs when i scrolled down, but sub 1k? WOW! I can’t wait to see the next model :-)

I would love to see you build an airliner again!

Excellent build, the subtle weathering adds so much depth! A lot of airliner builders tend to avoid it entirely but even the most well maintained fleets get at least a bit of a patina after years/decades of use if all the photos i have of qantas planes are anything to go by lol

What better way to start procrastinating huh ? Beautiful plen

Really cool video and build. Only criticism is that the cockpit windows look a bit off. I think the window "bezels" are too thick compared to the real thing.

Awesome build and great video! It looks like you reached into the sky, pulled it down and set it on your desk! Well done sir!

@janvolek3040 1 day ago

Well done on seeing this one through! The weathering on the engines looks great. One suggestion, think about getting cockpit window decals (I know!) as the revell marked windows are way too small.

@robbiestruys9127 17 hours ago

Well do e, but cockpit front wi ndscreen windows are too small. They're slightly taller on the real thing.
Weathering 1st class.

@Poland_aviation0 2 days ago

I think that you should try to reshape the windows as they look slight unrealistic

What model are you currently building?

@jorasaveminiaturas 10 hours ago

I do not get why this model "almost" made you quit scale modeling it presented the most common problems any other model can present to me comercial airliners are the most easy models to build , anyway nice work at the end and patience plays a good role in this hobby.

"This Model Kit Almost Made Me Quit Scale Modelling " is a click bait title. Any reasonably skilled and experienced scale modeler who would claim to be buffaloled by an AIRPLANE model, and a 1/144 scale AIRLINER no less, is only trying to make himself look like 'Gee, ain't I great. I took this POS and made a work of art our of it!' A sailing ship with intricate rigging might pose a challenge to such a person but NOT a small scale AIRLINER. You do great work and do not need to employ such a nonsense approach to get attention!

Dude your content is great, but seriously lay off on the 'subscribe' prompts. It makes you look desperate. Why people feel the need to put those on their videos is beyond me. Everyone knows how to subscribe, if they like your content they will. I was seriously considering giving you a subscribe, but all those prompts and the desperation made me change my mind. You want subscribers, knock off the prompts and concentrate on your content.
