What do you do when you have six hours before the next chapter begins? You can wait—or you can go live them.

Before leaving Boston for Norway, I had a few hours to myself. So I went back down to the Charles River, wandered through the city, stopped at a firefighters’ memorial, encountered an extraordinary herd of life-sized elephants, watched children and families enjoying them, noticed the gardens and the people around me, and stumbled onto a farmers market.

At 75, I’m increasingly aware that a life isn’t made only from the big decisions. It’s also made from what we choose to do with the six hours we could easily have thrown away.

Choose a Curated Life is about living deliberately, staying curious, trying things that scare us, and refusing to become invisible simply because we’ve reached a certain age.

I may never pass this way again. So while I’m here, I intend to pay attention.

If you’re in a stage of life where you’re finally asking “What do I want the rest of my life to look like?”, I hope you’ll subscribe and join me.

Next stop: Oslo, Norway.
