For years, Jerzy K. has witnessed the darkest secrets of crimes in Małopolska up close. No one expected the chief inspector to become the hero of a macabre story himself. His obsession with a young girl will drive him to order the kidnapping and murder of Jacek, a small-time entrepreneur in Krakow, struggling to make ends meet after closing his business. He renovates bathrooms and sells plastics. Little does he know that his financial troubles and his acquaintance with Jerzy K. will plunge him into a spiral of violence and ultimately lead to his tragic death in the waters of Lake Rożnowskie.
