I’m thinking you “awkward….weird” experience was going to be something major😅

It was an oversight. It happens.

I didn’t find a problem with the mattresses because I like extra firm. If the mattresses are too firm for anyone, ask the cabin steward for a mattress topper. That might help.

I have to agree with you Griff. The bed was hard and I had better sleep on other Celebrity ship

I love extra firm beds.  You can always make it softer with toppers.  Us old folks need a firm bed, lol.

Thought the bed was perfect for those that enjoy firm beds. Wanted to take it home.

I liked the bed.  Inside room. The shows were pretty good.  A lot to absorb with all the lighting.  I felt  overstimulated. I wouldn't recommend the  hypnosis show. Just terrible.  As someone cruising sitting beside us in the shows he said. " that's an excuse for poor acting"  ironically we both left mid show. Beyond that, I'd give most singers a solid 8/10. There were a few highlights  and special moments.

All the food was great. The speakeasy was ok for the experience but beyond that not much to get over excited about.

I love your guys channel and hope I can grow to this level!

Loving the video. Next up is Xcel for me. In The Retreat. I'm not even real interested in the Caribbean ports. I'm taking this cruise to enjoy the ship, my suite, my beverage page, and being spoiled in The Retreat. I've been on Edge, Apex, and Ascent. This will be my first Xcel cruise. I appreciate you filling me in on the new aspects of this ship. Well done!

I love your videos. I watched your Xcel review video with Alyssa’s Star Princess review video. It was informative. I will be trying the Star Princess this spring after not cruising Princess for a while. I have top tier status with Princess but decided to give them another try. I am also top tier with Celebrity and was on the Maiden Voyage of Xcel. I loved it. I will be returning in the fall on the Xcel for S. Med. I love all the Edge class ships, especially the Infinite Veranda cabins.

Cool that you can request toppers for the beds tjough… so infinite veranda for more space good to know

I've done all Edge classes Ascent last year Med cruise and this year Xcel 11 day Med. We ALWAYS go the Retreat route. Its worth the price.

Great video as usual! Excellent content and outstanding presentation !  Thanks!😎😎😎

I prefer firm so enjoyed while my partner requested a topper which made It perfect for them😊

I had no problems with the mattress on my 2 night preview. Going again next week for 7 nights and will check back!

Excellent video, Griff. Captured the whole experience in a concise, yet informative way

Great Video as always Griff. I wanted to book this ship but not to sure about the bed.

Like that not sponsored.  Informative, until overly reliant on stock footage.  Then draws into question whether lived experience or commentating.  Wished for stronger video footage to connect with the commentary.

GOOD VIDEO. VERY INFORMATIVE! WILL DEFINITLY CONSIDER ALL TOPICS.....

Been sailing on Celebrity since 2015 (at least twice per year) and after sailing the Apex and Ascent, we really prefer the smaller ships (Reflection, Summit, Silhouette, etc.).  I think the service is far more personable and attentive on the smaller class ships.  However, I do get the appeal of the Edge class ships though.

We sailed Xcel for 7 nights in December.  Stayed in Celebrity Suite in the retreat.  Beds were rock hard!  So was the sofa bed, which our adult son slept on.  He got the mattress topper and it was still like sleeping on a board.  His neck hurt all week.  Room itself was gorgeous.  I think the bed buyer made a HUGE mistake.   One and done, sadly because this retreat experience (outside of the sleep) was amazing.
