I don't think anybody in the locker room knows The scheme including Kalvin Shepherd

There are serious coaching issues right now.

and yes, we have done this to Jack Campbell... He needs to be that middle LB stopping the run, rushing the passer at times, and just covering the center of the field in between the hashes no more than 15 yards from the line of scrimmage, THAT is is... He does that he would be the best in the NFL, can't ask him to do more than that.

Excellent …you explained this for what most fan’s were thinking 😊

You kinda nailed it. If he can't trust the secondary then he can't commit to what he should actually be doing and it's becomes a mess.

We had hutch lined up as nickel on some of those snaps.

Now that IS a coaching thing though because you should be coached up to just do your job and stay focused and if you do your job and the secondary gets burned, the coach should be making adjustments.

So ultimately it's coaching (penalties too), Brian Flores would be getting more out of the guys we have , full stop.

Jack Campbell is another reason why Sheppard is the real problem with the defense, he is not being utilized the right way, Jack is not an never was a cover linebacker he is a middle linebacker, he should be run stopping and used on blitz packages. It's the same type of thing with Alim, he should not be worrying about pass rush, he needs to run stop, or do both as he is paid to do but I don't think he can so use his strengths. That's the bottom line Shep play to these guys strengths not to your ego or stubbornness to change or get Shep out now before he totally destroys the team. KG, will you please watch last season to this season he is not being used the same way at all from last to now.

If he's getting paid 20 million dollars a year in playing linebacker isn't in his skill set for 60 plays a game and he makes no big plays then we have to question his skill set. There is no way that they are putting him in a position the entire game that doesn't match his skill set there's just no way . They know he's been unproductive this is on him my friend at some point he has to step up and he'd be the first to tell you this he's been awful and it looks like he's in the wrong spot because of his indecisiveness not knowing where to go all of that

Lions should get a hold of the winless Buccaneers and see if they can get Alex in a trade for like a 7th or under . He's been awful for Tampa Bay and I can't imagine they have any reason to keep him around

They’re asking Campbell to do things that he wasn’t having to do last season and that he is not good at. I would have Trevor Nowaske  as your primary coverage linebacker. Put your players in the best position to succeed and use them in what they do well within your system. Shep is not doing that. He’s more focused on scheme than on what players can do well.

As someone smarter than me said, they're using him like hes fred warner, hes not. Branch and kerby covered the peoole that they're now asking jack to cover, stupid. Its scheme and personnel.

Well, you should have paid him earlier. Have you noticed whenever the player gets the bag, their performance declines! Check the numbers!

Thank you for saying it. There is no scheme. Shep is throwing darts at a board and then running the same thing over and over. I’d rather we get a positional coach who LISTENS AND WATCHES WHAT OUR STARS ARE GOOD AT AND IMPLEMENTS A SCHEME BUILT AROUND THEIR STRENGTHS. Jack will be better with BB back. He won’t have to cover as much and BB will def help in getting the communication out so everyone knows who they got.

And that's why not making sure you picked up players like Porter Jr. is so aggregious.  They relieve some of the pressure when it comes to pass coverage by that defense.

They are trying to find a way to PUT THIS ON SHEP WHEN IT IS ALL ON BRAD HOLMES

It’s not the same defensive system as last year.  So that definitely points to scheme being a big factor.

Not the same system though. Way more
Zone than last year and way more blitzing.i think it is more about the safeties failing around him and he is trying to overcompensate

Jack, overworked? Good point! Take up the slack? Damn, it's tough being THE MAN!!!!!

Well losing Anzalone was more than a problem that anyone could have imagined. No way Detroit could have resigned him, but they possibly could be able to trade for him? Sounds crazy af doesn’t it! While they have the Bucs of the phone they could ask about a CB

This is what happens when a player is trying to do too much because he doesn’t trust the people around him to do their job. Now you hesitate for a second, and when you hesitate in the NFL you are already beat.

I said this when the lions drafted Jack tackle to tackle great but sideline to sideline ok but covering TEs RBs his hips not allowing that he has decent straight line speed but he's not athletic none of the lions LBs are athletic.
