You can get the spirit x with a sheath,a ratchet, bit extender and bits for just a few dollars more than the Leatherman wave alpha which come with nothing but the tool itself which makes the spirit x a better deal.

Great comparison, thanks for the video! Man I wish Vix had a large one hand opening blade in the Spirit... that would make me go with it

There’s aspects that I like about both brands. I’ve resorted to a Swiss champ in my left pocket on a suspension clip and a skeletool in my right pocket. Pretty happy with that route so far.

Love these comparisons with the Spirit. Keep them coming! Would also be great if you compare with the Spirit MX (one handed opening) as this may change your thoughts particularly against the Alpha.

The Alpha is an ARC with plastic grip and no magnetic one hand opening feature. Leatherman is not fooling everyone ! BOTH OVER PRICED JUNK. I RETURNED THEM. NO SHEATH, NO USA MADE STAMP AND NO BIT TIP KIT. HIGHER PRICE 250.00 AND 200.00 PLUS TAX.

Wie kannst du sagen das die schere gut ist ohne sie mit einer schittprüfung zu vergleichen schneid einen Verband und plaster wir werden sehen welches tool es besser kann

No, no, I don't think they are comparable. Almost a twofold difference in price is not in favor of LM, while each Vix tool is separately better than in LM. Maybe replaceable bits and longer nippers are the discussed advantages of LM, but the overall user experience and weight are on the Vix side. Arc has the most important advantage - any of its tools can be removed with one hand or in a glove, Wave does not have such a thing. I definitely wouldn't buy Wave+ compared to Spirit and EVEN MORE $200 Wave Alpha

What I've heard is that the Victorinox scissors on the spirit X are mini-sheet metal scissors. Might be worth testing them on thin sheet metal...

The Leatherman is NOT American made! YOU ARE WRONG!!!! Made from China parts. The Alpha is over priced junk. The Swiss is cheaper and much better

Owning and using both of these tool, I found that the Victorinox will fail during hard use.
The rivets will loosen, and they can't be retightened unlike the machine screws on the Leatherman. They can be hammered tighter, but that's not ideal as it's difficult to get it right, and you can make the tool difficult to open.
The wire cutter's edge will roll on harder wire, and can't be replaced like the Leatherman cutters can.
The Phillips driver will strip/snap under hard torque, and it can't be replaced like the bits on the Leatherman.
The mediocre edge retention of the budget-level Victorinox blade steel has been discussed ad-nauseum, there just isn't any comparison to a Magnacut blade.
Unless the $35 premium of the Wave Alpha over the Victorinox X or MX is prohibitive, a Wave Alpha, with it's user-replaceable and user-serviceable parts, is a far better heavy use tool.
I think the Victorinox is prettier, and as a light duty tool it can be quite serviceable. Perhaps the Victorinox is the "Gentleman's Multitool" vs the Wave Alpha's no-nonsense, tough, tradesman approach.
This might be the real appeal of Victorinox, their knives and tools are premium priced, light duty, gentlemen's tools that don't scare office workers when you pull them out of your pocket.
Love your channel, and I wish you all the best!

Look, I own both the Leatherman Alpha MagnaCut and the Victorinox Swiss Tool Spirit MX.
The Leatherman is far inferior in quality and much more expensive. Sure, having MagnaCut is nice, but it's not worth $250.
And MagnaCut isn't even the deciding factor anyway.
You get a saw that actually works, a screwdriver, a file, a chisel, pliers, and a proper file that really performs...
We can talk about it once you've tried one.
Anyone who's actually tried the Victorinox Swiss Tool Spirit MX has given up on the Leatherman Alpha and its plastic handles (yeah, 'G10' is just cheap plastic with a fancy name).
The Victorinox Swiss Tool Spirit MX wins in every single aspect!
