You nailed every round, answered all their questions, and left feeling confident… but now, silence. No email, no call—just ghosted after the final interview. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. In this video, we’ll break down why this happens, what it means, and—most importantly—what you should do next to keep your job search on track.

I was one of two finalists for a position and the recruiter would respond in like 2 minutes about any question, then I had some great interviews, 5 of them, and he told me I would hear back right after the final interview. Ghosted. No response whatsoever and never received a response. I even told them I had another offer, still nothing. Probably filled the job with an internal hire or something because I aced the coding interview and it all worked properly, etc. Very unethical of them and a message would have taken like 30 seconds.

I love this, "No Response Is A Response" I think our egos get a little hurt due to the preparation and time we put into the interview process but just like dating , it they are interested, you know. You can't lose what you never had! :)

Now they ghost you after you accept the job. WTF?:face-orange-frowning::eyes-purple-crying::text-green-game-over:

I have been going through this and it's not fun. I love your prospective. I will be using your suggestions to get my head back in the game. Thank you!

No one calls in ghosting. I’ve never been ghosted, but when the ghosting came in I wasn’t thinking about it. I was thinking I landed the position. But alas, ghosted. Doesn’t mean I will dwell. But it’s important not to enable these types of behaviors. Especially when you’re doing 20 hours of free work and multiple interviews to be hired

This was extremely helpful

But sometimes, ghosting after the final interview, can mean we are the second or third choice. We could have that feedback so we know if we can wait a couple of days before accepting other (less interesting offer)

Nice information, but there is one solution - Call “The Exorcist”. 😂

I have come to the conclusion that ghosting is a lawsuit avoidance strategy.

Don't agree. At C or C-1/-2 level companies should provide a response. So, my advice would be to call them

Can you check my CV?

I donno. I think if Batman Ghosted Superman, Superman would lose it. =p

From the HR side, final-interview ghosting usually means one of four things: the role froze, an internal candidate surfaced, the panel could not agree, or the team liked the candidate but did not have a clear enough business case to choose them.

The part candidates can control is the business case. After a final interview, I like a short follow-up that says: “Based on our conversation, the three problems I would help solve are ___, ___, and ___. The experience I would bring immediately is ___.”

That does not guarantee a response, because some companies simply handle people poorly. But it does make your value easier to repeat when the decision gets discussed without you in the room.
