Shushunova was truly an expert in vault. Powerful gymnast. RIP.

Wow the invencible  Soviet Team

Rip Elena 🙏😢so sad she passed away at a very young age she’ll be missed watched her wins the all around at the 1988 Olympics South Korea

I remember watching this 40 years ago and being completely captivated by both, but especially Oksana’s floor routine. Thanks for the video

If there was ever a 10 deserved for a floor exercise, it was Oksana's performance.   At 9.975, she was robbed .

70s, 80s and very early 90s were the absolute peak of Artistic Gymnastics!! Absolutely adored Shushonova...so sad that she died so young. Very sad to see what this once very beautiful sport has morphed into. No longer artistic gymnastics gymnastics...basically power tumbling now. Thanks for posting this competition! Great quality!

Imagine how amazing gymnasts of this era would be if they had the equipment used today

C'était de belles gymnastes🥰 aujourd'hui elles ont changé de physique, trop costaudes.superbe Elena.

Yurchenko really missed a golden opportunity here. Oksana’s score on bars was very average, Shushunova was underscored on vault. If Natalia had done what she did in team’s on floor she could have widened her lead going into the second rotation.

Thanks for putting this up. Great gymnasts

Oksana did not deserve 9.9 on beam. She should have been the silver medalist.  She was not the same gymnast as Elena.  Time also showed she did not place higher than 3rd in any world competition AA since these worlds

Golden era of gym.

Extraordinara

Колись Шушунова здавалась мені такою атлетичною, але в порівнянні з сучасними гімнастками вона просто балерина

23:40 ❤

Вільні вправи Омельянчик-золотий фонд світової гімнастики

My only complaint is Shushunova’s routine looked like it was choreographed by Geza Pozar 👎

This was a fascinating battle of artist vs technician. By the 90s pure difficulty was mostly winning out. RIP ROV!
