Just like the good ol days, 0% drama, 100% speedrunning, and 1000% Doom. Truly, the peak Karl Jobst experience.

Great fun taking part in this competition.
It's always wonderful discovering the new routes and strategies speedrunners come up with when you change the formula up a bit, even on a map as optimized as E1M1.

Thanks for creating this challenge - I had a blast over a few days while participating and gradually getting better and faster than I initially thought I could be, because I usually don't really speedrun games. I'm old and usually play Doom just for the old times sake. But I'm really satisfied with my final 54.940 :)

"Doing this on any other level would be a nightmare to play."

Meanwhile in every other speedrun: "there's a 3 second time save if you can hit 47 frame perfect inputs 37 minutes into the run.  If you don't hit it, it's a reset since the world record already has it."

Here for you big dawg. Stay working, we're here for it.

Speaking purely as a spectator, what makes this category cool, at least on this level, is how there's no time to stop moving. In UV Max there are points where the runner can pause while they finish killing an enemy, but here there's no time for that. They have to do all that slaughter on the go.

I didn't submit a time, but I got ahold of DOOM and tried it out for myself.  I tried a number of times myself, getting used to the controls (it's been awhile) and understanding the layout.  From there, I began watching other people's submissions just to see how they were doing it since I'm not a DOOM expert.  It was fun.  I think I was getting about 60 seconds, which is clearly not good enough, but I'm glad you put this together Karl.

Hello! I was 20th and it was a pretty fun challenge overall :D Super frustrating at times tho, idk how many attempts ended with a single missing item and I didn't even know which one it was, the ones in corners were especially infuriating. Congratz to the winners, the runs at the top are just incredible!

I'd suggest that this category be called 300% or 3-100% rather than 100% if it does catch on.

I think the presumption is that anyone watching this video is probably already familiar, but I kept expecting at a least a passing mention of why the various categories are prefixed "UV" for those that might not be in the know.  (Ultra-Violence difficulty.)

Karl Jobst talking about things people did in Doom is just the best.

I was worried for a little bit that you'd stop uploading but I'm loving all these new videos! The speed running content scene just wouldn't be the same without you man.

4 vids in two weeks. What a legend.

BigMacDavis broke this ground first.

Bros pumping out video after video to get some financial stability, and I'm all for it, I could watch this aaaaaall day.

Oh hey that’s me at the beginning lol

I'm glad that I participated in this challenge. Yes, my time (1:17) was not very good, but it was pleasure for me to try find a optimal strategy to get faster time.

So cool that you used your popularity to host a tournament like this. Keep doing what you do you absolute legend!

Man, there is something about the visual and audio design of the Doom shotgun that has always stuck with me. Out of all the weapons from all the FPS games I've played throughout my lifetime, the Doom shotgun is easily the most iconic to me.
Edit: The Super Shotgun from Doom 2 is awesome as well, but it never overtook the original Shotgun in my heart.
