I haven’t even watched the video yet, but I see a Polestar 1 and I could not click fast enough!  I finally saw one of these IRL the other day.  I didn’t think I would ever see one on the streets!

That freakin' Polestar 1 is an incredible Volvo on steroids.  I think of the Polestars sort of like Lexus is to Toyota, Infinity is to Nissan, and Acura is to Honda.  I owned a SAAB 9-5 which I bought brand new.  I test drove it, but never even looked at the engine compartment before I purchased the car because it didn't even come to mind that the 9-5 had a four cylinder engine because it drove so well on the test drive and had a lot of power along with being almost silent when driving so I assumed it was a small block V8 or some high output six.  When I took it for it's first oil change is when I found out it was a four cylinder engine, which I was shocked at, but to it's credit, it had a MASSIVE turbo charger unit that sat up above the engine which looked very similar to a Whipple supercharger box that sits on top of engines making that SAAB drive like a Lincoln Continental from the late 1960's with their huge V8 engine, but silky smooth drive characteristics.  The SAAB 9-5 was also a very quick car as well and the perfect highway cruiser or daily driver.  It did it all and I loved the quirky features including that incredible key position down in the center console.  I got more comments and questions on that key position over anything else about the car.  When I took a passenger or family member someplace and they saw me stick the key in down in the center console, they all thought it was a very cool position for a key ignition as every other car ever made has had the key position someplace on the dashboard or during the 50's through the 70's, on the actual steering column itself which was a very popular location from the 60's through the 90's before the now common push to start buttons and smart key fobs were standard.  Now kids would be amazed at seeing a car you actually inserted a key into as 95% of new cars have smart key fobs as standard so you never really need to take it out of your pocket, purse, or bag.  Whenever you take a young child in an old car, they immediately start asking questions like "Pop pop, you have to put a key into the dash to start the car?"  "Pop pop, there is no screen?  or "Pop Pop, you have to change the gears with that stick thing in the floor?"  "Wow Pop Pop, this car is really old!" when in fact it was from 2010.  That's just the modern times when it comes to automobiles.  They have really changed a lot (for the better) in just the past 15 to 20 years.   Even the modern electric cars which didn't even exist just 25 years ago and really not that many even 15 years ago.  Once Toyota started selling their Prius, and then Tesla with the fully electric cars that you could actually use as a modern daily driver and even cross country car if you planned your trip the right way, it changed automobiles forever.  Being a former owner of a Swedish car myself,  I love everything  about these Polestar 1's and I actually looked at purchasing one when they were brand new, but alas, it didn't happen due to the extreme cost.  I couldn't swing $150,000 at the time, nor could I justify buying one when a Nissan GTR (my all time dream car) was significantly cheaper.  I could have purchased a new base model GTR along with a Nissan, Honda, or Toyota for that price!  Granted, these are amazing cars, but they are not that amazing.  And I think Volvo found that out.  I think they thought there was going to be a much bigger buyer audience for these Polestar 1's when they released it because everything was pointing towards fully electric automobiles and no more combustion engines by 2035 by federal mandate, at least here in the USA, but also in many other countries around that world.  That whole idea only lasted a couple of years and has now been almost completely abandoned and it looks like the good ole' combustion engine is going to go on to a much longer life than was previously estimated.  Most car manufacturers who swore that their entire fleet would be electric vehicles by 2030, or 2035, or even farther out, have now back tracked on that business model to the point where many have abandoned electric cars altogether.  Many of the car manufacturers have lost BILLIONS, yeah, with a "B", Billions on their plans to convert to fully electric vehicles, because ultimately, the world was not yet ready for all electric vehicles, at least not yet.  I suspect that the combustion engine has at least another 40 to 50 years left it in, if not longer.  Especially in America where big beefy V8 engines are KING!  They are in everything from small sedans and muscle cars, all the way up to big Chevrolet Suburbans and giant pick up trucks, all of which American's really love.  NOTHING beats a big American V8 engine when it is correctly dialed in.  NO WAY!  American's like POWER, and lots of it.  We like throaty sounding exhausts, we like cars like the Corvette ZR-1X, even though yes, I know the new ZR-1X is hybrid assisted V8, which is totally fine with American car owners as long as they have that big beefy V8 growling out that incredible sound that only a V8 with the right exhaust can give.  It's an experience really.  It is something that American drivers have held close to heart ever since the invention of the automobile.  MORE POWER BABY!  MORE POWER!  YEAH, BIG V8 MUSCLE!   ARRR ARRR ARRR!!!  It reminds me of something Tim Allen would have said on Home Improvement!  LOL.  It's the American way!  It's been in our heritage of automobiles since the very beginning.  There was even restomodders back in the 1920's and 1930's, who even took Model T's and modified them to go faster.  Of course the bootleggers of that era and through the 1950's who needed to outrun the cops would modify whatever they had on hand, but they all had certain models that they favored, much like today.  I never understood the whole brand loyalty thing and people who would NEVER buy anything but a certain brand.  In regards to detailing products, tools, and chemicals, I personally use very simple but effective products that I have been using for over four decades!  I started detailing in 1980 and we only had a very limited amount of products, tools, and accessories to work with.  No DA polishers, no iron removers, no ceramic anything unless it was a ceramic dish your mom owned, no clay bars or synthetic clay mitts, no acidic demineralizing shampoo's, no microfiber of any kind, no electric pressure washers let alone a washer mounted on a wall, no scrub ninja's, no 1,000+ chemicals to choose from, etc. etc.  Yet, we still had decent products and tools that got the job done, albeit with far less products in the shop overall.  This era in automotive history is truly the "GOLDEN AGE OF DETAILING".   There are so many tools and products available these days, along with all the social media hype of the various products, it is mind boggling and almost gives me a headache trying to decide what the purchase when I need to restock on a particular cleaning chemical or tool.  Which is why I have started to revert back to using what I used back in the day which was carnauba paste wax, a dilutable degreaser, and a good APC.  WE did a LOT with those three chemicals.  We also used the 3M system and had a 3M branded rotary (not sure who made it for them) and 3M wool pads, and the 3M cutting compound, polish, and glaze.  Occasionally we would also use Meguiars Pro Line of products which were great also and they still are.  It's just there is SO MUCH hype on the social media platforms and YouTube these days, it sort of blinds some detailing enthusiasts and even professionals to using economical products that have been in use for half a century which still work great in todays world and with modern clear coats.  My advice to any new detailing enthusiast or professional is find products that are the most effective and stick with those products rather than trying to chase all the newest products and tools or the only thing you will be is BROKE!  Trust me on that one.  I have fallen down the rabbit hole myself and it took me a long time to come to my senses so to speak and stop the madness of trying to get the most updated product or the newest tool on the block, etc.  Use up everything you have in your cabinet or on your garage shelves FIRST before purchasing a different one to try if you really want to do that.  You'll be happier trust me.  I had so many products in my cabinets and on my shelves that I purchased because of the hype, then only used it once or twice, and never touched it again because someone else put out another video promoting the next best and greatest product.  It's all hype. Just buy effective and efficient products and you'll be fine.  Technique of cleaning, polishing, etc is far more important in my opinion.

Another great tutorial, Coleton.  Matte finishes are an entirely different ballgame, and so many of the "dandelion" detailers (they pop up every spring ) and go on detailing pages and ask if they can or think they can  polish matte finishes.

Is this also the best way to clean and protect a  deep red Mazda CX30 because they are known for their soft thin paint? Or do you recommend another video for that. Love your stuff by the way.

Another great video. Would love to see a head to head comparison between green star and surfex hd apc’s. They seem to be the two favourites. Would be interesting to see if one is better then the other at different tasks

im pretty new to detailing correctly lol, but if a prewash does the job and removes all the dirty stuff, why even come in for a second foam and contact? seems like it would be better to just do the prewash and avoid any potential scratching. Im more asking though because If there is a good reason I want to know.

What do you think about sponges? Seem safer option but more pricey do to multiple media method.

What are your thoughts on using ADS Iron Remover in an IK Foam sprayer (4-5 ounces diluted with water)?

When I use gyeon mohs as a wheel coating it doesn’t seem to perform as well? I see other coatings come off with just pressure washer

I have watched a lot of your videos and basicly used the video "With Only 5 Products" as my foundation for washing. Having said that, do you still like Green Star as a prewash or do you prefer Primus 2.0 now?  I am about to run out of Green Star and would like your opinion before rebuying.  Should like keep Green Star on the side for tires and the front bugs or is it safe to use use every wash as in the "only 5" video.  Look forward to your feedback.

8:47 that’s just about as strong as stomach acid, which is around a pH level of 2. That’s more than enough to dissolve stainless steel.

Great looking car. I can understand a matte wrap, but matte paint is just foolish.

You’ve tried Icon Rocklear liquid PPF? It’s a wipe on clearcoat type coating that claims to be 40-60 microns thick.
