I had to watch this twice. The painful rail lifting hurt, but I am glad it was documented. And listening to the diesels made me very happy. The snow clearing operations were absolutely amazing, especially the flanger car and crane with the snowblower. And the top of the Gaff shot was incredible. there was a train wreck in the 1920's at heart's desire. a man named pushy died. the tracks were gone by my day.....1970's.

So CPR was not the only ones to come up with some weird equipment designs after a night of acid, pot, booze and shoveling snow.

It really is a shame that they tore this up. It's in better shape when they're tearing it apart, than some of the rails that are in use across Canada today 🤦

What’s interesting is how that one NF210 was fitted with a thing on the front pilot to winch and pull the torn up rails along, not sure what you would call it

Not only Brian Mulroney screwed up via rail in the west, but he screwed up newfoundland cn.

The equivalent of digging your own grave.

The railway had been an important part of the development of the Island. The cost of maintaining it became more than the shippers and passengers who used it could afford. Many more people work for shippers ... TerraTransport provided options that made Newfoundland businesses more competive. A sad day for sure, but the right decisiion for Islanders.
