When a doctor told me I might never cook again, I wondered what that meant for my livelihood and the life I knew. Shannon and I revisit the heat stroke that changed how we work, the demands of cooking over an open fire, and the days we’ve faced everything from scorching heat to bitter cold at the chuck wagon.

Write in cursive its as good as code. Most young people can't read it.

I had a conversation with my pastors wife who is a Lutheran School elementary teacher. She said she teaches cursive. We discussed, if you can’t write in cursive, you can’t read it. No wonder the younger generations don’t know what is written in our Declaration of Independence.

I am so glad that God has blessed you with your strength and resilience in the conditions you cook in, no matter the location. Especially your added blessing and strength with Shannon by your side. You're both a wonderful team, and all of us who watch your shows learn a lot. May you continue to be blessed.

Cursive writing? Most of the younger people I work with can't even read a clock face with hands/numbers. It's insane that if they can't look at their cell phones they don't know how to tell time.

Love you guys, Kent and Shannon you are national treasurers. The work ethic you show is above and beyond. if even a small portion of today's youth had it what a wonderful place this would be. At 80 I only remember what it was like and try my best to pass it down to my 8 year old son. God Bless you two for what you try to instill in this crazy world!!

I'm 75 now, worked construction for 35 years in Southern Arizona as a welder. I can relate. My daughter had sunstroke 3 times before she moved to Seattle.. I grandson said when he was in the Army they had a water through with ice in it, they soaked their forearms in the ice water to cool their bodies off. You might make an ice chest work for you. BE CAREFUL!
