âRejection is protection and redirectionâ. WOW! Iâve never heard that quote before, but itâs so beautiful and powerful, Iâll make sure to keep it in my tool box. Thank you for another great video, Alicia!! So happy to have you here sharing all of your wisdom. Hope your weekend stays calm even within the madness of work! â€
The quote about life is originally from SĂžren Kierkegaard, a danish philosopher and theologian who lived in the 19° century. A beautiful quote, one of my favourite actually. The quote about rejection is very deep and important but not easy to grasp for young people especially, and in general people who have low self esteem and live rejection as a tragedy. When I was very young, I'm 53 now, I was so afraid of rejection that I was always the first one to walk away on people and experiences. It took me a good amount of years and work on myself to realize that rejection from someone didn't mean rejection from everyone, and that it could be the beginning of something totally new and exciting. Inner wounds aren't easy to heal đ Yeah, the universe gives us what we need rather than what we want, and that's ok. Hope you find soon a place to live, been there many times when I lived abroad and it is pretty stressful indeed.
Fellow former restaurant front-of-the-house employee here! Mother's Day, 4th of July patio service, Graduation Day & Valentine's Day are challenging at an Olympic level! Stay hydrated, shoot for the big bucks, and have a super cleansing ocean swim after, followed by a shower, foot rub and nutritious vegan mega- meal.
I love that quote (life is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be experienced) I've not heard it before but it's a nice grounding mantra to centre me in times of confusion and chaos and when I feel like I haven't got it all figured out, which is most of the time đ
Thank you for the wise words! Itâs a challenge not to be attached to a desired outcome and have faith that we are at the exact place in life we need to be, even when things donât go our way. Kind of alchemy of the mind - trusting the path, even if it looks like itâs leading us astray. Lovely bathrobe btw! Hugs from Japanđđ
This is my second Mothers Day not in the brunch trenches (aside from 2020 obvs) after 20+ years in the industry (took a 60% pay cut to work with special needs kids at my sonâs school.) I miss the adrenaline and camaraderie from those crazy days (sometimes đ). Iâm so glad you have the extra energy to still put out such awesome content. Thanks, A!
I like the quote about rejection. It's a shift of mind rather than defeat. A question that's helped me redirect when things don't seem to be going quite the way I want is "is this a breaking point, or a turning point?" It's helped me realize that I'm not defeated if things don't go my way; Rather, I need to redirect and maybe come at it from a completely new angle. Not to downgrade anything, but just simplifying that life is just a series of choices and consequences has helped me reframe some of my negativity into neutrality.
I do believe that sometimes things just happen in your life when you're not even trying that turn out for the best. I suffered terrible depression after the cat I'd had since I was a child died. I wasn't planning to get another cat, but someone I know happened to find a homeless kitten. They were going to take it to the pound so I said I'd take the kitten. She was probably only about 5 or 6 weeks old and needed alot of care and attention. Now she is 8 yrs old and she is so loving and sweet. This kitty saved me and I love being her "mum" đ» I like to think the "universe" (or whatever you want to call it) brought us together.
