Back when the FA Cup properly mattered. Semi-finals away from Wembley, replays all the way through the competition, top players everywhere, completely free to air and top broadcasters. How far we've fallen.
This is the very last FA Cup Semi Final to be held at Arsenal Highbury Stadium on the 13th April 1997. I am a Arsenal fan and I miss football in the 1990s.⚽⚽⚽
I was at home watching it on TV biting my nails, I was on holiday in Great Yarmouth in the holiday centre pub when we beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup Final. The following season I was at the European Cup Winners Cup Final in Stockholm against Stuttgart, what a game with Zola the hero. CFC 56 💙💙⚽️⚽️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦
My 8th birthday, remember watching it on TV not really understanding what semi finals meant, my dad certainly knew and went berserk when we took the lead
As a Chesterfield fan, I remember this match because it was played on the same day as Middlesbrough v Chesterfield which finished 3-3 and it was a game which we deserved to win after Jonathan Howard's goal was mistakenly disallowed by David Elleray (we lost on the replay, obviously).
