Patrick Shanley owed a credit card debt. Instead of paying it or fighting it normally, he sued Bank of America’s law firm and five of its attorneys, opening with a “special appearance” and his “god-given rights.”
Judge McNally wasted no time:
Counterclaim dismissed (the FDCPA doesn’t even apply to a creditor)
Summons quashed against all five attorneys
The whole case ruled frivolous
Door opened to sanctions, with the conduct called “outrageous”
