Vodník is very underated slavic mythology being

There's that other flooded hut in the Kuttenberg map by the dam. You can hear some creepy singing inside at night. Perhaps the water goblin is on holiday. =D

Czech person here. Antonín Dvořák wasn’t a poet, but a composer. Pots in the hut are for the water goblin (Vodník) to keep souls of his victims. That’s our folklore, yay

The water goblin doesn't want any smoke with hangy Henry cause he'd eat it

this is why i fucking love the world building in kcd2 its treading a line so fine between realism and folklore/fantasy that events which can be explained in rational ways actually feel somewhat mystical and supernatural. Warhorse had a lot of fun with the setting and it makes for such a unique and fun map to explore

I really like the quest that's centered around it because you get this really cool fish scale patterned silver axe. One of the prettiest weapons

KCD2 has so much handcrafted content that you'll be making these for a while 😂

Water Goblin or not, I just love the atmosphere you conjure up in these videos. The titular entity reminds me of a creature in Norwegian folklore called "Nøkken" who can also drown people or lure them to their death in small lakes, sometimes in the shape of a white horse.

I think if we're going realism: 3 lads found a bandit stash bought a bunch of booze and drowned. But it we're giving folklore a shot I'd bet water goblin did em in

Recently found your channel, kcd2 has become my absolute favorite game ever. So naturally I love this kind of content, great job! Cheers from America.

if you zoom into zhelejov tavern and look to the top left of the drawn map, theres a fish creature popping out of the lake reminiscent to the description given of the water goblin from the npcs and czech folklore. it doesn’t have limbs (assuming its in its shape-shifted form) but its green and red and sports a kind-of red beard, like an old mans.

There IS a groschen stash in that ruined cottage by rocktower pond bandit camp. In one of the stone walls outside, if i recall correctly

Man you really be putting out some KCD2 content lately and I love it!!!

Water goblin green with a potbelly....okay its ole gregg got it.

This is the way. I'm absolutely LOVING your videos about KCD2

19:00 they just ate a TON of meats and drank all the booze they could afford... i recon it would be quite likely that someone drowns, a panic starts, and the other two drown in their panic. There reaction times are slower, judgement impaired, and they are stuffed like kings... theres a reason we say "wait 30 minutes after eating before swimming"

I'm absolutely loving your KCD stuff, there's plenty you could do as well so hopefully we get more, only if Sir Fizhy of Blighty wishes it of course

I just finished your KCD2 vid and it was stellar

No matter what kind of story you ask for he'll tell you this story.

Vodník as a "cryptid" in czech folklore is really interesting, because just like čert (demon) they can be heroes or villains, depending on the author's take. Though both usually land in the neutral category, where it's safer to be vigilant. In plenty of fairy tales, the vodnik is a kind of a nature spirit, like a gamekeeper of the waters, who is friendly to those who are resspectful to his territory and do not cause harm and disturbance. While in others they are vicious, vengeaful beings, who like vampires, profit from the downfall of humans. In the poem collection Kytice z pověstí národních (A Bouquet of Folk Legends) the poem centered around the vodník depicts him in almost a lovecraftian manner. In the story he picks and kidnaps a human bride for himself which he then keeps with him and breeds with her. She begs him to let her home for one visit to see her mother, which he allows, but the mother then prevents the daughter to return home in the evening. The vodník lets her go, but punishes the woman by tearing off the head of their child and leaving the body on the doorstep.
