Were these really 'hidden gems' or just costume jewellery? I search online 'hidden gems' recommendations and spend a day tracking them down. There were definitely few tourists, but were they worth the trouble?

Istanbul is full of gems. Finally someone exploring it. You should visit Pera palace hotel from19 century. It's historical hotel where the passengers from Orient expres stayed. Also Agatha Christie wrote her famous book there and it has first electric elevator in Turkiye!

I've watched lots of content about Istanbul. This is so refreshing to see the more interesting, less touristy places. It looks like a living museum.

I absolutely love Istanbul, it's one of my favourite cities in the world (that I have visited!). I was last there in summer 2023, but having watched this, I'm now itching to go again!

You can climb to the valens, but when you try to walk towards to top. There would be obstcles to pass. Years ago (9years) there was a high gate after you just get up there. When you pass that you can walk to the end of it. But its hard to pass the gate alone. Amazing wiews in both sides.

Went there once in my MN days, Scott. I did enjoy it and found Turkish people to be nice. Not many cars in those days! 60 years ago! Cheers from Oz.

I haven't seen the cistern since it came to fame in the Dan Brown book 'Inferno', but it looks to be all modernised and, as Scott says, it takes away a little of the scale, the imposing nature, call it what you will.

Love your videos. When I travel with my daughter and she says we're 'lost'. I tell her I'm not lost, I know where exactly where I am we just don't need to be here' 😂 Doesn't go down well.

0:31 not too bad pronunciation in turkish, you mentioned about the lack of pedestrian in Istanbul a few times in the video, Istanbul has been getting extended with a mass population every year that's why the city has too much traffic and less pedestrian 🚶‍♂️.
