The idea of a nursery is wild to me! My babies sleep with their mama for 3+ years and they sleep perfectly alone afterwards. No better place than snuggling with your babies xxx

I haven't swaddled any of my babies (not intentionally, my first just hated it so we never tried again with subsequent babies) and I never found it to be harder to get them to sleep at all. I'm a firm believer that your babies temperament truly dictates how they sleep!

So agree with not forcing with pushing! I pushed coercively with #1 but this time I said no and I also had the experience of him sliding right out with no push! So cool.

We used swaddle sleep sacks but with baby’s arms out! It was still comforting without restricting her movement so much!

In the past whenever I would bring food to a family that just welcomed a new baby I tried to make sure to also include some quick and healthy breakfast and snack options, like a breakfast casserole or muffins. Having gone through three postpartums myself I 100% underestimated how immensely helpful it is to have food taken care of before I had kids!

I made a habit of reading instead of scrolling while feeding my second baby, and it has honestly been the best decision ever. I've read so many books this year, a few pages at a time, and I'm in a much much much healthier place with my phone and social media compared to after my first baby. I would say the key is to make sure you are choosing books you're actively enjoying, rather than slogging through something you feel you should read, otherwise the lure of the phone becomes harder to resist. Highly recommend!!!

We never did blackout curtains (not really intentional, it just wasn’t doable with our setup) and she can sleep anywhere and she’s now 2. Not sure if they are connected but it definitely is nice knowing I don’t need to have a specific environment for her to sleep!

I had a November baby a couple years ago and it was SO cozy and sweet to just make that winter all about family and letting go of ambitious schedules. So excited for you!
Also expecting an October baby and love the idea of a book list instead of doom scrolling during breastfeeding! That sounds like a much healthier use of that quiet time.

For the sleep thing, my son, I was adamant that I would not do the pitch black sound machine on bc I wanted him to be a flexible sleeper. It worked and he’s 21 months and in may he fell asleep at my friends college graduation while people were clapping and yelling so take that as you will lol
